The measured compression PSI doesn't really tell you that much about compression ratio, or even about cylinder pressure when actually running.

Agreed, to compare two engs, both would have to have the same compression ratio, same cam(aka same intake valve open*) and be check at the same altitude.

Any variation of them three spec's and the comparison is invalid!
