1968 Dodge Charger Bullitt tribute

I have decided to try and sell my 1968 Dodge Charger Bullitt tribute car. Why? The truth and honest answer to that is that another Mopar that has grabbed my interest has come up for sale and the only way I can afford to purchase that car is to sell mine. I'm in the position of not having to sell my car, I just want to put it out there and see what happens. If the car I want to buy sells before I sell my car then my car is immediately off the market and not for sale. I have all the reciepts for the parts bought and work done to the car. I will do my best to describe my car below. I'm sure I'll miss a few things because alot has been done to this car over the last three years. There are a few members who have seen my Charger and I can give you their names if you need an opinion other than mine. In my opinion I believe my car is not a museum piece. It is a very nice above average driver. Cost wasn't a factor when I built this car because it was built with the intention of never selling it, it wasn't and isn't an investment. That is because this is the last Mopar I will ever restore and I built it with the equipment I wanted. If I was able to order this car back in 1968 this is how I would have ordered it with the exception of possibly a 426 Hemi.
BODY: The car has had both rear quarters replaced with full quarters from AMD. The car has also had a new one piece trunk pan also from AMD installed. The rest of the sheetmetal is original Chrysler sheetmetal. The body was professionally prepped and painted in base/clear. The body is laser staright! The bodyman that did the work has been in the restoration business for nearly 40 years. If there are any questions that I can't answer about any of that work I can set up a meeting or telephone call with the bodyman.
OUTER BODY: The front and rear bumpers are new from Goodmark. The front grill trim is new from Gunslinger. The vinyl top checkmark trim is new from Gunslinger. The vinyl top is new from Legendary. The tail light assemblies and pot metal tail trim are all new from BEA Parts. The radio antenna is new from Metro. The door handles and mirrors are new. The roof drip rail stainless is new reproduction. The rear window trim is poilished. The trim on the the top of the doors and top of the rear quarters is polished. The windshield trim is original and not polished. The wiper arms and blades are restored to original condition. The hood turn signal lenses are new from Charger Specialties. The wheel well opening moldings are the originals and are real nice. The gas cap and trim ring are new reproduction parts. The front turn signal lenses are new from Goodmark. The rear plate light lens is new. All the glass is tinted and is all new from AMD. All the emblems are original NOS Chrysler parts.
UNDER HOOD AND TRUNK: The trunk has the original jack assembly, spare tire, correct hold down, and a new heavy duty rubber herringbone trunk mat. Under the hood there is a recored 043 radiator with a three core used instead of a 2 core. The radiator also has a correct 2 piece steel shroud. There is an electronic voltage regulator housed inside of an original looking points type housing. There is a gel cell group 27 reproduction battery. The engine sports a Chrysler electronic ignition conversion kit with the box semi hidden on a custom bracket that is mounted to the rear intake vally pan sealing rail.The vacuum hoses for the headlight assemblies are new. The engine is completely dressed and painted as a correct vintage 1968 H.P. 440. The headlight, engine, and rear harnesses are all new M&H harneses from Year One. The alternator is a restored 1968 unit. The carb is a correct numbered Carter AVS 4 speed carb that was concours restored by Scott Smith from Harms Automotive. The original three speed wiper motor was restored by jules the Wiperman. The plug wires are firewires and the correct 1968 ignition wire bracket kit was used to route the wiires. The intake manifold, waterpump housing and H.P. exhaust manifolds are correct .vintage 68 casting numbers.
DRIVETRAIN: The car has a completely rebuilt 1971 440. This engine was in excellent condition before the rebuildand still retains its stock bore. The 906 heads have been treated to a post clean up three angle valve job, quality bronze guides, new springs and valves, cut and all chambers cc'd. The cam is a stock Mopar 440 magnum restoration cam. The windage tray has a few custom mods along with a few other oiling mods. The pan is a 6 qt with filter pan. The exhaust system is by Gardner Exhaust. It includes an H-pipe, hemi style mufflers, tail pipes with original style chrome tips. It isn't too loud and is a pleasure to drive. The transmission is a 1968 vintage 18 spline hemi four speed that has been completely rebuilt and mated to a correctly centered stock numbered casting bellhousing. The driveshaft is new. The rear is a 1969 vintage Chrysler 3:54 dana 60 that has been completely rebuilt. All of this mechanical work was performed by Bob at Outrageously Vintage, a Mopar only machine shop with decades of expirience. OTHER: The fuel tank, tank straps, sending unit, fuel lines, vapor seprator, fuel filter and the rubber lines are all new.
The brake lines are all new from Fine Lines. The car has 11 inch power drum brakes all around. The rear brakes have new wheel cylinders, shoes, and hardware. All the 11 inch brake drums were removed from a 1969 Dodge Coronet with 31,000 miles and are mint!
SUSPENSION: All four ball joints are new, all 4 tie rod ends are new, upper and lower control arm bushings are new, idler arm is new, strut rod bushings are new, all 4 shocks are new. The torsion bars are the correct heavy duty 440/hemi bars. The rear leaf springs are new 1 inch over stock Hemi style springs from Espo's springs and things. The shackles have all new bushings. The front k-frame has the correct hemi skid plate installed.
INTERIOR: The headiner, front bucket/rear seat burlap, foam, covers, and door panels are all new Legendary parts. The carpet, rear package tray, rear seat divider panel are all new from trim parts. The upper front and rear pads, all dash pads are original black Chrysler parts in excellent condition. The armreat bases are new from PG Classics. The window handles are new. The console body is new from Tonys Parts. The 4 speed console top is new from PG Classics. The glovebox liner, glovebox lens, map light lens are all new. The rallye guage cluster with the tic toc tach has been totally retored by instrument specialties. The guage faces were retored by their silk screening process, no decals and they are beautiful. All the dash plastic is new from BEA parts. The seat belts are all re-webbed with the correct material and even have the correct date code tags sewn on.
As you can see, I probably spent more than I should have. I know people that haven't spent as much as I have on a matching numbers car. Cost wasn't a factor because it was never my intention to sell this car. I built it to my liking. I like original looking cars and love all the little but correct details. Again, this car was built to be driven so I had to draw the line somewhere. There is still room to improve this car and take it to the next level. There are still a few small issues that need attention and those will be disclosed and dicussed in detail with a serious buyer. These are small issues that anyone with a little mechanical ability can take care of. That's half the fun of these olf Mopars, loving them with your wrenches. The car has just under 600 miles on it since completion. If you've read what I've written than you can figure I've spent foolish money on this car, but it is now a nearly new car. I have a small Mopar restoration parts business that I just went full time with. I'm very busy as we are only a few weeks away from launching our own website so my time is very precious right now. Not to give off any bad vibes I ask that only serious buyers inquire. I just don't have the time to just shoot the breeze. I apologize and wish I could but again time is working against me right now. The price reflects the cost of the car, the parts, and the body and paint work. Like I stated at the beginning of this ad, I don't have to sell, I want to sell but only if I can purchase the other car that is up for sale. The worse that can happen is that I'm stuck with a beautiful 1968 triple black Charger, and that's not a bad thing
