1968 Dodge Charger Bullitt tribute

No it wasn`t. Watch the movie. It cruises behind the station when it explodes.8)

They had bought two cars for the movie, a blue standard charger and a yellow R/T, they were both painted up black and made to look the same. The "blue" car was the one they used for all the bad stunts (wrecks) and the car they used in the gas station explosion, which from what I read was not part of the original script. The "yellow" car was the car they bolted the cameras to and used in most of the car chase scenes and the car that got sold to a local dealership after filming, which repainted it back to yellow and sold it.

Thanks for the compliment. Any links to that story about the original Bullitt being found in Tucson? I have a friend who lives there.

There were a few stories written about it, I think MCG had the best coverage of it. The guy that has it didn't know what it was when he bought it, they started to strip the car down to restore it and found holes drilled everywhere. He supposedly had a friend that worked with movie cars and knew what the holes were for so he did some research and made some calls and come up with the original info when they originally purchased the two cars for the movie and a lot of behind the scene photos of the car with the cameras mounted to it. I'll look around and see what month/year it was in MCG

My uncle still has a house in Tucson, it turns out the guy that has the car was a friend of his and did the upolstry in one of his old Mercs.
