What do you guys think?

Actually the fleet price on the Hemi Charger is very competative with the Crown Vic 4.6L fleet car....

Our officers hate the Fords because they have really bad brakes, and handle poorly (for a police car). Chargers in general handle much better, even stock.

I've got a town on my tool route that just got a Charger or two. They
have that "Take no prisoners" look when they drive down the street.
They mean buisness!!!! toolmanmike

I saw a couple over the 4th of July that the Highway Patrol had when I was passing through Atlanta. Thankfully they were in the middle of pulling some people over when i passed.

We have two in our town. The top two officers who writes the most tickets, get to drive them! Oh yea, they are solid black, no light bars, & graphics in black reflective. Yea they are tuff to spot!

I've had the priviledge of driving one, and I was quite impressed. Neither Ford or Chevy has anything that can come close in handling, braking, or speed. It's about time that someone finally stepped up and built a real cruiser. Ford and Chevy need to be sweating on this one. The Charger is a real cruiser, one that is years overdue!

The Illinois State Police swapped a good majority of their Impala's and Crown Vic's for these... I was reading that right out of the package, these new Cop Chargers have a top speed of 174mph... able to catch faster cars... stupid Fords!

Not to redirect the conversation much but "What in the HELL would any cop need to be going 174 mph for???? Nothing that's what. And if I recall correctly from some conversations I have had with some of my local police buddies, they "Techniclly speaking" are not supposed to speed, PERIOD. If they can proclaim an excuse to cover their illegal acts, than so can we, thus they would not tend to do so. There job is to "Protect and Serve" not risk lives and break the very laws they are mandated to uphold, commiting to ignorant high speed chases that get people killed, thats why they have Radio's, spike strips, helicopters, etc. I highly doubt that those go 174 mph outta the box, and if they do the insurance companies are gonna have a freakin hay day raising everybodies insurance rates to cover for all the innocent property that will be damaged and people who are going to get killed by a buncha sugar donut and caffine hyped puds that think they can do what they want because they have a gun and a badge. (No offense to any of you who may be sugar donut caffine hyped puds :headbang: )

Kraby... why do you always have such a negative view on things???....

In law enforcement, the police (or whoever) always have to be one up on the "bad guys", and if this means a REAL police cruiser that can get up and move out of it's own way... so be it. Do you honestly believe YOUR insurance rates are going to go up because of your local law enforcement buying Dodge Chargers?? I don't...yes, I might be young, but I DO pay my own insurance bills...

I'd like to see you thank those "sugar donut caffine hyped puds" next time you need them...

Rant off...

It's not a negative attitude, my sadly :sad1: mistaken young friend , it's a REALIST attitude 8-) . How many "bad guys" have you witnessed racing around in a Porsche, Corvette, maybe a Ferrari or a Lambo, or any other sports minded vehicle that would even be capable of 175 mph? The cops do NOT need to have cars capable of those kinds of speeds. If you ain't figured out that insurance rates go up based upon statistics, you have a bit to learn. Cops chasing bad guys at a hundred miles per hour will cause statistics of death and destruction to go up. :ncool:

Tell ya what, look at it this way, the way many families end up looking at it after the cops do stupid crap like this. I am not trying to get personal, I am trying to make you look at it in a different perspective, so don't go acting or thinking I am making personal, you'll only look foolish. You love your mother and father? How would "YOU" feel if a cop, chasing one of those "bad guys" who supposedly has a car capable of (for the sake of argument) 150 mph, smashes into your mother and father and kills them, maybe himself, or for that matter smashes the bad guy into your mother and father and kills them all? Oh and then find out that the pursuit started over say expired tabs, or maybe the "bad guy" was a couple of kids out on a joy ride in a stolen car, how you gonna feel then about the cops NEEDING a FAST car????? This kind of stuff actually happens everyday, cops chasing people that they really shoudn't have as it truly isn't neccesary nowadays, there ARE better ways. Now on this line of thinking, your mom and dad are dead because an overzealous cop with a car capable of doing speeds that he has no buiessness driving at, has killed them, what are you going to do? I'll tell you what you'll do, the same thing that every family in a similar situation does, you SUE. Sue the cops, you sue the bad guys, you sue the car manufacturer for producing those cars that could go that fast. Who pays if you win? Insurance companies. Where do they get their money to pay lawsuits and attornies, etc etc? FROM YOU AND I in the form of insurance premiums. Don't tell me insurance premiums only go up when you get in an accident, cause everybody I know has their rates hiked on a regular basis as well as I do. Do you see the pattern?

As for needing cops, no I really don't. I have had many instances in my life where I have had meetings with them for various reasons both good and bad, and if they were upstanding, moral, law abiding citizens that did their jobs "protecting and serving and UPHOLDING (which means not violating) the law", I would probably think differently. But far to often they show a lack of intelligence and maturity that I feel is neccesary for such a position, and they tend to have "I am above the law attitude's" and I trust them far less than some of the "shady guys" I have know in my life. Maybe you need to have a "big brother" watching over your shoulder every second of every day, but I don't, and will not tolerate abuse of the system by them in any form, and as such will advocate for change.

I believe in karma and personal justice. You try to hurt me, I will hurt you worse/maim you. You try to maim me, I will erase you. I will one up you no matter what it takes and I will fight to the death for what I believe in. Simple but effective.

Don't like my views? That's fine, I don't like yours either, but I have as much right as u to voice them, so next time don't respond to them and I won't dish more, of what you may not like, out to you. :salute: Because after all they are M.O.'s, nothing more.

How about a fleet of the new Hemi Challengers, that `d bring the price down and criminals would be damned! LOL!
Always a possibility. CHP and Border Patrol have been using mustangs and Camaros for years.
