No one seems to have any of these?? It shouldn't be that hard... (You would think?)

I have a 72 904 going into a 73 Duster. Can I use a mount from any 904 any year?

Thanks!

Are you talking the crossmember or the mount? If it is just the mount 72 and down used one type and 73 and up used a spool type (and the crosmembers were different too). If you have the one from the 73 duster (doesn't mater which transmission 727 904 a833 etc) use that one. It is the best one in my opinion. Get the energy suspension poly bushing kit for it too.

..having same problem..was told by one that they are different ansd by another, the same..you wouldn't think that this would be an issue..

Well, then you have the issuse of which one to get. They Heavy Duty one is cheaper! but the other one has that extra brace on the top.

I found they have the heavy duty one in stock! I just don't know if it's o.k. to go with that one since it is missing that piece.

Do you have part numbers and what store are you using ? Thanks

Why is one the heavy duty w/o that piece ?

I don't know??? I hoped you would know!

Advanced Auto parts

Pt#2340 for w/o HD package

PT#2512 With HD package

Just don't be stealing my part! :)

The heavy duty one will be just fine. Thats what I use and I race my car. I have never seen one with the extra bracket like in the photo.

i got my mount from 440 source. i havent used it yet :pale: hopefully soon she will be running

i bought my mount from the local auto parts store. which is kragen auto parts herre. CSKauto.com is their website though.

when i originally ordered my tranny mount, they gave me one like the pictures that you have above, but i needed a different one, so i returned it and ordered the correct one.

The one in your photo kinda looks like the later spool type but is slightly different. The earlier ones were also known as bisket type mounts when was basically a square rubber block. I think the spool type is the stronger of the two. The only issue I've run into with the spool type mount is when I tried to install one of the USCarTool Driveshaft Loops which bolts to the cross member instead of through the floor.

The flat mounting bracket of the loop doesn't work with the Spool type cross member because the cross member doesn't have a flat surface to the rear.

This is a photo of a typical spool mount. Two bolts attach it to the transmission and then a large bolt goes through the tabs on the back of the cross member and through the center bushing which sits between the tabs.

My options were to either switch to the earlier mount and cross member or use a different drive shaft loop. I went with the bolt through the floor type loop.

got a pic of the spool type crossmember? Or is that it 3 pics up? I think it is as its open on the bottom.

I believe the other is sometimes referred to as a bisket mount. It's a square rubber block that has a bolt that goes through the small center hole of the cross member in the pic fred posted above. That driveshaft loop I spoke of before works with that style but not the spool mount and cross member like I have.

Walt, are you interested in getting rid of that 1st driveshaft loop that you had a picture of?

The one that would work with My style mount

Sorry for bein off topic, thought i'd ask though. Thanks

Actually I was thinking about listing it in the For Sale section. Obviously I don't need it now. Still new in the box and is sitting on the bench in my garage. Make me a reasonable offer. I paid $194 for it ($179 plus $15 shipping). I prefer Paypal if possible.

It's designed to bolt up to the cross member like this:

Heading out right now, but I'll get back to you later. Thanks

the pic above that walt posted is the spool type. the other type, not sure what its called looks like this. i use the tall/square mount.

Sorry to bring up the post again, but I'm looking for info on this for my '69 Dart. How does the tall PU mount fit on your car? I bought one for mine, but the 727 hits the top part of the cross member before the holes in the bottom half are even close to lining up to get the bolts through.

I've even tried putting a stock rubber one in, but even now the trans is pushed up too high which isn't doing the alignment of my driveline any good.
