You may be good to go on some of this, depending on what year transmission you have. Some things to be aware of (not sure what the cutoff years were):
1) Make sure you have the good low-reverse roller clutch (some of the earlier models had a plastic "cage" and fewer roller elements)
2) A change was made to the diameter of the front pump snout (I think 1987 began the new design)
3) There's a plastic thrust washer on the backside of the sun shell (I think... it's been a while) that could stand to be replaced with a torrington-style bearing. If it's not a super-duper-duty application, the plastic piece may be adequate.
4) A new separator plate is ~$20 well-spent.
5) When placed upon the chest, the transmission will become 100 pounds heavier.

There was some other crap, but the above items stand out most in my feeble mind.
