Dog destroys cop car

In all seriousness, I have to agree with cudaspaz on this one. Granted it was fun to see Winston rip the bumper off a Ford, but I'm sure there's much more to this story than just the vid. Unfortunately, if that would have happened in Denver, the cops would've shot all the dogs and they'd have every legal right, as would any passerby if attacked or charged.

Mopargirl also has a point that chained dogs get vicous. BUT, a long cable or chain is fine as long as they have run of the yard and are not out all day or all night long, with or without food and water.

When I'm working in the garage in the summer, I'll cable the dogs to the garage door rail to keep the scum away (my garage opens to the alley) and they're fine. My backyard has a 6 ft. fence and even though Merlin could probably jump it, he doesn't know he can...... yet.

In my neighborhood, there are loose dogs everywhere and the problem is this:

1. A loose dog charges someone with a concealed weapon permit and the dog is dead.
2. Cars.. I can't tell you all how many people I've known over the years that have lost a dog to a car hit.
3. The loose dog attacks another dog on a leash on a another persons private property...get ready for a lawsuit.
4. Loose dogs are coyote bait.
5. Loose dogs are skunk and racoon bait too.
6. No matter how well trained your dog is, if it finds more dogs and becomes the leader or follower, all bets are off. Little "Pookie" can become a serious hazard.

Merlin got out twice since I've had him and I'm lucky he didn't get shot. He's so big that even as a lone dog, people really freak out when they see him, even though he means no harm as a recently "escaped convict", lol. Who knows what he might be like after a week though...
