Hi Fellas !!!

My name is Mario, I'm a 40 y.o. brazilian craze Mopar fan since I was born...
I love these great cars, here in Brazil they were produced as A-Bodies Dodge Dart from 1969 (the year I was born too !!) until 1981, when they were discontinued, and the factory was changed to produce VW trucks ( blearrrgh !!).
I used to live near the factory in São Paulo, and I had several Dodges in my life, including 4-door Darts and 2-door hardtop Darts & Chargers (a slightly modified sporty-flavour Dart, with some cosmetic details), they were all 318 V8 engine produced cars, many of them with 3 or 4-speed manual transmission, and some with TorqueFlite automatic drive.
It's been five years since I moved from the craziness of São Paulo's big city to a small and calm place in the extreme south of the country, near Uruguay and Argentina, a very good place to live in, and when I started dating my wife, I discovered she was not only a Mopar fan, but she learned how to drive in a Dodge Dart !!!
Man, that sounded perfect !!!
I began looking for some old family pics, and they showed me a very beautiful metallic brown 1979 2-door HT Dart, bought brand new with all options (it's very similar to the 1974 Dart Swinger of yours), only to be the second or third family's car and towing the family's trailer, but unfortunately it was sold to a museum near here back in 1998. I went to the collection owners and offered some trades to get the car back, but it was quite impossible on these days, as they didn't want to sell it back...
Well, to quit these painful days, this year the museum collection was completely dismantled due to government taxes serious problems with the keepers, and all cars & stuff related were in auction. Sad, but true. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel when they put our lovely Dart in the poll, and now, after a good fight with some crazy guys like me in the auction, I'm really proud to say that the car is OURS back again !!
I'm only waiting for the judge's deliberacy to take the car back home, and this will happen soon, in about two or three week's time. After sitting in a barn for twelve long years, our baby will be back, roaring the Mighty Mopar V8 high !!!
We're so happy that we want to share all these adventures with you !!
And now I'm sending some pics of our babe where it's sat since 1998, just waiting for our rescue...

I'll send more pics of our Dart, since it was brand new, towing trailers, until the final rescue, just stay tuned for more news !!!

Welcome sir, to the best Mopar site in the world!! Will you be running the car on pure gasoline or will you have to make special adaptations for the sugar cane mixtures found in Brazil? Are these blends standard octanes or are they higher/lower?

Hi Claudius, thanks for the reply !!!
Here in Brazil we run on 20 per cent mixture of gasoline with sugar-cane alcohol, and they're about 85 to 95 octanes on normal petrol. As the car was manufactured for this type of blend (it started here in the mid-seventies), I hope not to find many problems on this pattern.
We also have premium gas with higher octane, but the normal is fine, the engines run better with this blend nowadays, than in the early seventies and eighties...
Thanks for stopping by !!!

Wow!!!.......that's an amazing story!! I'm happy for you all. Now tell me.....was the fact that your wife learned to drive in a Dart make her more "awesome" to you? :love7:

Cudavert,

The fact of knowing that my wife started motor life behind a Dodge steering wheel gave me more trust, confidence and love, of course...
It's good to know that she will not only look at the Dart, but RUN & DRIVE it, as our baby teaches her skills too !!
This car is very good indeed, and it's the closest thing produced here in Brazil that matches almost the same Dart Swinger as you have in your country...

Thanks for passing by !!!

Chuckwagon,

It's very interesting to know that you're now working here in Brazil, hope to find more Mopar craze guys from here and all around the globe, to exchange some passion & info about these great cars...
I recently opened a new thread showing some pics of our Brazilian Darts, when you get time please have a stopping by, okay ???
Abd I hope you may bring back a Brazilian Charger to the USA, it would be very cool to show it to our friends there...i know where you can find some exclusive parts for these cars, maybe it's cheaper buying a 67/69 two door HT american Dart and customize it with the grille and the roof extensions...I'll put lots of pictures in the new thread, I know you're gonna like them !!!

buzuian your probably right... It might cost me a fortune if I was to ship one back to the states. That and it would probably get lost somewhere in customs too LOL.

Welcome!!!! Nice ride. Very simular to the american Dart. I never knew that the same looking Dart would differ so much in another country. Love it! Hope things work out in getting your ride home. Im sure you are very anxious. Good luck and please keep us posted.

Again I thank you all guys for the hot welcome and your comments here !!!
I made an album for the Dart, if you wish to see more of our babe please do it !!
Anxiously waitin'for getting the child back home (not sleepin' at all, I'll sleep when I'm dead, LOL !!!!!)

Hi Fellas, I'm very proud to be part of the family here !!
And I love the Dart pics, 64Dart170 !!
These cars really have soul, my wife used to say that our 79 Dart looks (and sometimes act) like an old cat, very handsome, and reliable, but sometimes moody...
And I admit, I agree with her !!!!
Thanks for all of your attention, soon we'll have lots of new stories to register here...
Just anxiously waiting to bring the car back home (hope this will happen until the end of this month), and then we'll have the "ride of our lives" back again...
Mopar hugs to everyone of ya !!!
