A car built in 10/72 would definately be a 73 model. They probably stopped the run of 72 models sometime in the summer. Then took a few weeks off to change tooling, then started the 73's. By October 72 the 73's would be actually on the lots getting sold. It's probably from a C body car if it has a car oil pan, or a truck if it has a truck pan.
