Mopar Breakfast Cruise - A Few Pics

OK. Here's a bonus pic with a quiz.
Guess what the semi-bare area on the hill originally was (remember, this is SoCal and located in north Orange County) about 30 years ago. I'll post the answer late tomorrow in case nobody gets the right answer.

Nobody took a guess but I'll tell you anyway. It was one of the most crackpot ideas of all time.
It was called "Ski Villa", a 7-acre artificial ski area. An unknown developer bought the land and decided to put in a year-round ski area in northeast Orange County at a cost of $750,000 (in 1966 dollars), complete with 3 rope tows and offering a 1/4-mile ski run. The land was graded to the specified profile, a 2" base of mastic cement put down and topped with 1.3-million interlocking 6-inch tiles of plastic bristles with a 1" nap. It operated for 1 year before closing.
As you can see, the land still hasn't recovered after 42 years of lying dormant.
