i tried a used 273 intake and if you saw my last thread it was a big prob maybe not related to intake but to be sure i want to buy a new alluminum intake. the engine is a 73 318 stock comp ratio reserfaced heads with full valve job lunati cam
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 218/218
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .458/.458
LSA/ICL: 110/106
and dual exhaust off stock manifolds running into 225 pipe with cherry bomb xtreme mufflers stock rear 294 gears
the carb ill be using is a edde 600 performer
all help would be great thanks

If you can get to a swap meet or here on line, the 2 intakes I would be looking for first are the;

Edelbrock LD4B or the Peformer.

Ethier Weiand, Action Plus or Stealth is also fine for use on the 318.

The LD4B and Stealth are squarebore topped intakes, the other 2 are spreadbore tops.

If purchasing a new intake, a Performer would fit your combo well. Used? an LD4B would be fine but compare the price to used Performers and let your wallet be your guide.

thanks for the replies im gonna buy new summit has the weiland square bore action plus for 189.95 the performer for 215.95 is there enough difference between the two fo buy the performer vs the weiland and how would this impforve performance over the stock 2bbl thanks

OK, at the problem of sounding like a high school english teacher and a prick rolled into one...

WTHeck did you say? Diction! Run on sentence and these little things --> ?,!,.,",

You want to know about a comprao between the Weiand Action Plus and the Edelbrock Performer?

There an equal intake from the manufactures veiw and there basic operation stand point. I beileve Weiand gives there intake a 500 rpm higher ceiling over the Performer.
I myself have not compared them in anyway.

just trying to figure out what would work the best w/ my engine combo. would their be any benefit in aftermarket over a stock 4brl intake? please forgive me for the lack of punctuation.

There would be a few HP gain. Considering the cam is small, the expense isn't so justified IMO. A OE 4bbl. isn't a bad part and has the RPM abilty's for that cam.

Most factory iron 4bbl intakes were large port for the 340/360 heads. On a 318 this creates a slight "step" in the port. On a mild combo like yours, this probably wouldn't be much of an issue.

The only small port factory iron 4 bbl intakes were the 273 intakes. These were a single plane, low rise intake. A Performer would be a definite upgrade over one of these boat anchors.

Good used Performers can typically be had for about $100.

Edelbrock D4B. Say, I'll be in your neck of the woods the first week of June. Attending training at Gowan.

Good luck at Gowen, I'm TDY in Puerto Rico for the next month or so.

D4B is for 1964-1965 heads only. LD4B fits 1966-up.
