I just purchased a set of dynomax ultra flo welded mufflers for my duster from advanced auto. One is a new style box and the other in an older box. The salesman reassured me they were the same mufflers. They both say dynomax ultra flo welded on the box. My problem is they dont appear to be exactly the same. On the newer one you can see entirely through the muffler. The older you cant and it looks a little different. Did they change the ultr flos welded mufflers?

Welded UltraFlos should be straight through, with an angled perforate tube if they are offset center or offset center versions.

Same Dynomax PN on the boxes? I'd check directly with Dynomax before I'd install them on my car. Some salesman have been known to spin things for their benefit.
If I'd been the salesman, I would've made sure you got two identical mufflers for your application.

I have attached some pictures of the boxes and the mufflers. They are kind of crappy sense they were takin with a cell phone.

Those are 2 totally different mufflers. One is a welded case. The other is not.

Take the 2 mufflers back and beat your part guy over the head with them. Most of the guys at Advanced Auto can't scratch their balls without asking for instructions.

Thanks for clearing that up. I figured they were different once i looked at them at home. I just wanted to clarify.

my gues would be that the last pic is of a dynomax superturbo, wich is an entierly diferent muffler.

yep. they are different. take them back...and ask the ******** for some gas money, for making you drive all over...

Was the box with the crimped muffler open by chance ? I've seen wrong boxed mufflers at a parts store before , someone swapped the higher price muffler into the lower price muffler box .

Billl,
It is not even a Super Turbo, it is cheaper muffler. See how it has no concave/convex extrusions on the end where the internal flow directors are welded on?

I want to say the original ultra flos were a crimped case muffler which is why they were deemed legal for FAST series racing because they LOOK stock .

GooD point John. These were called UltraFlos, the others were Race Magnums but they consolidated and went with the name UltraFlo, Welded for the Race Magnums and UltraFlo for the crimped end, true ovals.

Somebody put a chepo replacement in the box & returned them. There is some shifty people out there.
