Eastern Wa. 68 Dart/73 Duster

Haha. Funny thing about this Duster. It went to Japan (the first owner was in the Air Force). Before the shipping company would ship it, it had to be undercoated....alot....inside and out. Otherwise they said it would rust on the boat ride over and they'd be liable for the corrosion (imagine when companies assumed liability for something! Those were the days!) So the undercoating place drilled holes all thru the body and sprayed it in. You can see the little yellow plugs they used in the last picture in the corner of the door frame to cover the drill holes. Those things are all over the underside, and trunk and hood. I'm not sure how much weight that added, but I will say it won't ever rust.

The dogs I have now were kind enough to dig big holes underneath the front tires for shade and coolness. I sure appreciate that my Duster is now teetering on the edge of a rather large hole in the front. But not to worry. I have an 04 cummins that would pull the car sideways if necessary.

If there are any body guys on this forum, I'd appreciate an estimate of how much weight all that undercoating would add. Was thinking about drag-racing it, but totally pointless if the car has weight i cant really ever get rid of
