my dad said back in early 80s saw a fastback cuda then it was gone.
i was sitting at my friends house and her step brother comes in and said grandpa just pushed an old car out of the garage and he wants it gone
i rush over and what do i find. a 3701 mile orginal 340 4 speed formula s power steering, 4 piston brakes just sitting going to waste.
car was tore apart in 1970 to make a race car... it has 2x3 sub frame connectors, mini tubbed, aluminum sheet metal floor, gutted interior, cages. and was never finished. i look a the car no rust at all but alot of dents and filled with garbage, i asked how much and guy said junk price 200 bucks. i bought it needing the 83/4 for my duster
i get it home and wow. not on spec of rust repair, frame rails were still shinny green. inside under the garbage layed n.o.s header panel, lower valance, full grill in mopar boxes, 5 fuild race balancers, big block and hemi k frame for a body, 2 radaitors, fuel cell, hemi scoop and alot of other stuff.
the car was missing interior, column, all pedals, wiring, heater..... gutted
second job i met up with a guy that had a all orginal formula s 340 4 speed that had a rotted fram. i bought it from him for 1700.
i took the pedals, wipers, heater, 4 speed... and all the little parts that add up price of redoing a car. the 340 was super clean. i treated it to a good make over inside and out. nice cam, pistons, ported the heads, intake, holley, headers.
i stripped my clean car down to just a shell everyhting but the rear end and windows. i cleaned and painted everyhting and rebuild anything that needed to be done. i redid seals, front calibers, tranny, 3/8 gas line, new tank, holley blue pump, radiator... etc you guys all know the little stuff putting dash in wiring making sutff work the time consuming stuff. carper seats, homemade door panels, louver, aar cuda chin spoilers. i blocked and painted the car my self in a one bay garage. i did engine my self. everyhting seen in the pics was done by a 17 year old kid.
heres some of the pics... wish i had what i drug home looked like a piece of crap. the kids at the house i bought it from were laughing at me. now there liek i wish i did that to it. pics started once i had fenders, doors hung on it and motor and tranny in it.
to sum it up, i honestly have only close to 5 thousand the way it sits, i payed 200 1st formula, 1700 for second formula. wheels and tires, paint, nitrous, performance parts and what not. i kept it on a budget. i would of loved chrome bumpers but i used a 3 dollar can of textured paint and everyone ask me how i got it to look like that or are they fiberglass.
im sure i missed alot of the details, there was alot more, traction bars, wheels, shifter, sway bars, oil cooler, electronic igntion up grade, drive shaft loop, polishing the stainless and rear trim, getting all the lights to work, painted inside and under side of the car,
but thats a quick summary of it with some pictures i have more i will post sometime soon.
so what do you guys think did i do good for paying 200 bucks for that old plymouth that was considered junk
