You might be able to pull the tips out 1/2" to 3/4" but I'm guessing the chrome will crack. You're getting your cash back and got nothing to lose so why not try. Good luck and post pics.
 
I just spent the better part of the afternoon reading the most amazing thread i have seen in a very long time. 5.7 you are my Superman!!! That car is one helluva piece of art and style. The colors are awesome and the center console is better than i have seen high-end audio shops make. My heart goes out to you for all of the medical ladders you have had to climb. I think we shared a few. I was a full-time working firefighter until an old lady in her grand marque decide to use my truck for a break. 3 failed surgeries later,,can no longer work and have to wear a leg brace along with walking with a cane. I will be starting a build on a 65' Cuda here shortly and can only hope that I have the brass b***s you do to work through the pain. Some days are good ,others I should say suck corn out of a donkeys a**!!! Please keep up the great work and hurt folks it can be done. I wanna see it in full glory with the wheels boiling the rubber off.

I stretched and flattened that bumper without busting the chrome.

Used a portapower borrowed from a body shop to widen it, but it turned it into a big smiley face. It was wide enough, but looked stupid--not gonna work.

Five minutes later, we cribbed up some wood and used the weight of the Fish to flatten it out. Lowered the rack it was sitting on until it gave. Hillbilly press....

Sweet. And did I mention free bumper?

Cannot believe the chrome withstood that kind of stretch. I'll post pics later as my batts are dead...

this bumper came from a different vendor (Jim's), however if you bought the "Mopar Authentic Restoration Product", you should expect the same problem.

A few more months of toiling and that fish will flop...er fly.
