Bought a 7" H4 conversion setup on ebay. Glass lenses, pair of 90/100watt bulbs. About $24 to my door, also bought a pair of painless headlight sockets for $15. Wired them on relays this morning, went for my first drive with them tonight on the way back for work.

VERY happy with them, huge difference over the stockers. :blob: Lighting/Color is comparable to newer BMWs and such.

Anyway, just recommending the upgrade. So far very happy, bulbs are noticably different if your paying that much attention, but the funciton of them is killer.

Aint nothin' meaner lookin' than the near-orange smoky haze of a muscle car's headlights. :violent1: But I do like seeing at night so glad this upgrade can be done and at a nice price.

Definately, stockers have their original look. The original look did SUCK though compared to whats out there today. Defiantely cheap, and definately worth it! :D

Hmm,was your old lights Halogen, or "regular",
thats a kool photo.

I am happy with the Halogens, in my Valiant,
but my beatr Van , needs some help; one headlight is geting dim.

That's quite a noticeable improvement! Oh by the way Goody, congrats
on your Young Gun article in the magazine. That has got to be the coolest thing to get your car in a major magazine. toolmanmike

Here's a diagram to help explain how to wire in the relays. This is one of my planned upgrades when I put my car back together.

That chart looks fine. Factory wires on my car is violet (low) and red (high). I was a little leary of how it would work together, but I kinda dove into it and it is VERY simple. I must have been a little intimidated for some reason lol, but it is easy. Like i said i made a new harness from the relays out, the factory wiring is still there and fuctional if need be. But the relays just tap off the factory wires and thats all there is to it. The rest is just wiring up the relays

Looks good man, but I agree with khughesprime, there's something menacing about them dim hazy muscle car headlights staring you down :D

Hi Goody
Where did you get the kits on ebay, was it a store,???. I am thinking of doing this to my 67 and 69, also for my 91 Ramcharger that I am rebuilding, it has the sqaurish sealed beam light s.
I have my lights in the Cudas running on relays now, so i should just have to do the change, I think.

Thanks Dave C.

Stupid question Mike (and John)... what relays did you use? Standard Bosch relays, or were they part of the Painless kit you bought Mike? Still thinkin' about this...

$5 Junkyard relays. Hi/Low beam, horn and hood latch are wired there. I know its not fantastic looking wiring, but you cant see a thing with the rad in anyway

depending on what you have they might be a little better. the H4 style bulb i have is what kicks out the big light...i went from those wal-mart halogens myself..

idk what i would do without buying stuff online lol

I picked up my relays really cheap from bgmicro.com. The relays are part #REL1068($1.99) and the sockets are part # REL1060($1.39). I'm in the process of building the new harness. Now that I've seen the difference in the headlight swap, I will be doing that as well. Thanks Mike!
