Wife bought a '06 300 touring sedan last week. 3.5L h/o motor, sure runs nice.

Any opinions on the motor, good or bad?

If it's anything like the old 3.5's they used to put in the old Intrepids... I'd be getting the Hemi in a heartbeat...

Is it because of a problem with the motor or power? Because I have a 3.5 in my wifes '02 Concorde and it flat gets with the program for such a small motor in such a big car. I guessing it would run low 16's and maybe even high 15's by the feel of it. I bought it used and the first thing I did was check the records to see when the timing belt was changed. That is a lot of valves to be replacing if it pops a belt.

My buddy had a mid-90's Intrepid with the 3.5L... nothing but problems... timing belt, leaks up the ***, various other problems too... I'm glad he finally dumped the car.

Maybe Dr. Z has done some magic on them.

What I miss is my '95 Cherokee with the 4L straight six.

My dad had a 95 new yorker with a 3.5 and after he died we sold it. It had 176,000 miles on it at the time and that was 3 years ago. They still have it and it is approaching 200,000. My mom has a 97 LHS 3.5 and the oil leaks are there but very minor. Biggest problem is the 3 bolt water pump which leaks, but the 3.5 is not a bad engine. Good mileage, 27-30 with a big car.

3.5L is a decent engine. Grandmother has a 99 300M and that thing flat out hauls when you turn the traction control off. Had some minor electrical issues but otherwise has been very reliable. The 3.5 is light years ahead of the 2.7L from a reliability standpoint. Hard to understand considering they are suppose to share many characteristics.
