ENJOY!

This mail slot is my driveway at my house. Wanna talk about a challenge backing out?

My wife Amy being the typical sweetheart and steering the car onto the trailer. She got it first shot.... now she says "I can drive this thing...."

I won't even discuss my thoughts on that statement.

This well-fed gentleman is my Buddy Tom whom owned the red Nova that used to live in my backyard. Tom also owns a sick-*** 416 stroker `68 Dart on spray that's pushing 500+ HP. Tom also has 9" drum brakes all around on said Dart. John don't drive, or ride in, said Dart often..... Although he's a crazy bastard, he did me the favor of towing my car to the shop. Thank you Tom!

Here's my car being laughed at upon delivery at the body shop....

The owner Jim said "You should have it back by January...." My fingers are crossed!

Looking good! January, eh? Thats not bad at all. I wish I was that far along!

I'm tearing mine apart again this weekend. Something with the passenger side door handle broke so now I cant open that door from the outside, and the process of completely re-wiring the car will begin soon. I also need to find a new choke linkage for a Eddy 650...

What are your plans with it? Keep it stock or modified a little/a lot? Good luck with it, looks like a good starting point.

Way to go John! Let them laugh now, but see who laughs last, and I bet it will be you. January? Did they say which year? :)

ya no doubt, january... thats kinda fast.

what power plant will it get?
colour?
modifications?

Although everyone had a snicker when it rolled in on the trailer, once I had it in the lot and they started looking at it the general opinion was " hey....it's ALL there. Not bad, just UGLY!" Yeah...it's all there. Just gotta make it pretty.

As for the time-line, I'm hopeful. When I stopped out in August they had a `68 Barracuda `vert and a `69 Charger in the midst of body panel repairs. The B`cuda `vert is finished and back home and they were just finishing up the Charger, which should go home next week. My car goes to media blast in 2 weeks along with a `71 Demon.

As for the game plan, it will be the original LL1 Surf Turquiose with a black bench seat interior. The drivetrain is a 360 - 4 spd. - 4:10 SG. Steel wheels painted to match the car and black center Plymouth dog dish caps round it out, pun intended. Here's the motor:

Engine is a .030 over 360 with a Comp Cams .488/.491 hydraulic job w/ Crane 1.5 roller rockers. Edelbrock heads and all ARP studs holding it together. I have a Centerforce clutch and a Lakewood shield. A set of ceramic coated TTI's are on my shopping list. I have a complete 2 1/2" exhaust system with 2 chamber Flowmasters. Oh yeah... I got a buncha carbs bolted to the top of it all

is that some seafoam i see? and by the way where did you send your car to, on the island?

It's actually a `68 color, Surf Turquoise. I sent the car to JM Performance on 2nd. Ave. in Ronkonkoma over by MacArthur airport. It's a small shop, but the work I've seen so far has been absolutely beautiful.

I'm soooo psyched that my shitbox is on it's way....

Good luck John. Was that Belvedere still there ?

Thanks Adam. I have a good feeling about this. And no, that insane Belveder wasn't there. They were talking about the new 500+ C.I. Hemi going into it though....

oh nice i used to live on the island man it was so nice how there is so many auto body shops and high performance shops and motor shops there

Cant wait for some repainted pics! If that body shop cant get it done let me know, I know an awesome painter in the New Rochelle area.

Thanks! But this time I have a good feeling.... I believe this is going to go my way for a change. I really like the guys in the shop. I meet the body guy Friday morning when I drop off the rest of the sheetmetal.

I've been compiling my "wish list" tonight. I'm up to $2,800 in parts once the paint is finished. I suggested to my wife that she starts giving lap dances on the train while commuting to help defray the restoration costs.

She wasn't too receptive to my idea...... :eye:

Glad to see you got it to the body shop O.K. John. I was worried that with your luck you might have an accident on the way there. LOL

Jack

Lookin' REAL good John... like I said in another thread, I remember those days... take a lot of pics because the work will fly by and then the real fun time for you begins!! :)
