Auto trans fluid

With all due respect to the Amsoil dealer(& the caravan owner)...How much does the guy really want to spend on a 1997 Caravan? Unless this synthetic stuff is unusally cheaper than what I've seen, I just can't see how the cost of synthetic is ever justified for normal driving.
