hi guys
a fellow contacted me today and offered to sell me
a 1985 225ci turbo motor with 43000 mi.
he said it was from a daytona.
will a 904 trans fit this motor?
as i understand it some type of system would be needed
for fuel and ignition management.
is there a simple system for this or would it require a
degree in electronics to figure out.
thanks
longarm

Edit: I'm assuming this is a 225 slant six motor....? You didn't specify?

A 904 will fit that 225, but you'd better make sure it's a slant six 904 and not a small block! Any turbo'ed motor is going to get the best performance out of fuel injection... check out http://slantsix.org or http://slantsix.com for a TON of info!

If that engine is from a 1985 Daytona, then it's a 2.2 4 cylinder, (135 c.i.), not a /6. It also sits crossways in the engine compartment. They did use the 2.2/2.5 (na, not turbo) in a few of the early Dakotas, although they were all 5 speeds AFAIK. Adapting one to rear wheel drive is possible with the right parts, although not practical for most purposes. All engine functions are computer controlled so making one work in an old vehicle would be a nightmare for most people. They made good power (175 hp) for their size and run very well in a light car but performance decreases dramatically with increased weight.
And no, a 904 won't bolt up AFAIK.

i don't have much experience with chry. 6's and am
trying to get a little info before i do .
i was told it is a 225 slant turbo motor by the owner.
i have a 27 burgeti that i am looking for an
unusual powerplant for.
i've be looking at turbo'd 280 Z motors up
