Due to a recent blowout (see thread: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?p=941344#post941344 ) Need to put new tires on my 69 Dart GT vert. Currently has 225 60x14 on Crager 7" all around. Thinking of going w/245 60x14 on back but concerned about side fender clearance. Drivers side 1" now but passenger side 3/4". Will need to measure current tires and compare to chart below. Anybody got any ideas/suggestions?

These are the specs on 60 series BF Goodrich TA:

TIRE----Rim----Sec width---OA dia----Rev

225.......6.9"........9"...........24.7".........8 42
235........7"........9.5"..........25.1".........8 20
245........7"........9.8"..........25.6".........8 13

Brought car to tire shop and he suggested going with 235 60x14 all way around which would enable me to rotate and move around as needed.

I was originally thinking about going with the "old school look"- bigger beefy in back/smaller in front... but not opposed to this suggested option.

My back tires just look too small.

my friend has 245 on his 69 same car but hard top but i do think he has 14x8 cragers on the rear

How bout a little help here?
Drop to a 70 series on the front and go 245x60 on back
...or leave same size all around?

Any pics of your Dart with larger tires on back??? would be big help.

I had 246/60 14 on the rear of my old 69 dart, mounted on 14x6 rally wheels, looked sharp!

Thinkin about 70 series on front and 245/60 on back... I like the old school look.
Would like to lower the front a little but more worried about headers and speed bumps.
Thanks for the pics.

245/60-15 on the rear. With a 4-1/4 back space. 225's up front.

Thanks again for the great pics!
Is there anything stamped on the rim that indicates backspacing?
Im guessing my Cragers are not as there is about 3-4" from inner tire to spring and only 1" from outer tire to fender (3/4" on one side actually).
Would be close... and I also have chrome wheel well trim that need to go on- so dont wanna have to bend fender.

New rims are not in the budget unfortunately...

Got the new rubber today...
ended up going with BF Goodrich Radial TA (235 60x14) all the way around. Like the look and affords me the luxury of rotating as needed.

Will post some pic ovr the weekend. Thanks again for all the pics & suggestions! :burnout:

Forgot to mention... the Crager SS rims were dated 1990 and the tires were serial dated 1994!!!

I had been driving on 16yr old tires for almost a year now... duh

Funny story- I was grabbing a cup of coffee in the tire shop and a kid was sitting there w/his Mom- looking out the window to the shop where my Dart was up on the lift. He was about 4yrs old.
He says, "look Mommy... that looks just like my Matchbox car!" lol

The new generation.
