would 318 motor mounts work on 400? i know that the 318 mounts on a truck work on a 400. i used sb motor mounts to put a bb in a 87 d100. has anyone tryed this befor?

I have never tried this so I can't comment on whether it works or not but I can tell you after reviewing part numbers for the brackets for A, B and C bodys none of the brackets share the same part number. But then 273/318 and 340/360 brackets are a little different but can be made to work so anythings possible.

I thought that spool mounts had the same distance between the
left and right side. Shouldn't they interchange? Not the upper
mounts, but the lower frame.

Yes, the spool mount k-frame is the same for the V8's but the mount that bolts to the block have different part numbers for SB and BB. So if you have a '73 up V8 a-body you can use BB Cordoba block mounts to install a BB in your a-body.

So you're saying that I can take a b/RB block, get cordoba mounts and bolt it into my 73 with a factory 318?

No modifying of the K at all?

According to the MP Chassis Manual yes. The Chassis Manual shows the measurements of both the small block and big block as being the same. I will see if I can scan and post the page that shows this.

The side to side spacing is the same, BUT the mount saddles are in the wrong fore/aft position to get the big block in the correct location. That's why the mods are necessary to prevent you from having to do other mods.

Do you know the mods?

Jim is right I just checked the interchange on a cordoba and the small block and big block use different k-members. Sorry for the mis-info this is what happens when you don't confirm what someone tells you... Thanks Jim for setting it straight.

Check the tech archives at www.bigblockdart.com. Do not use the measurements published in Chrysler Power magazine from around 1990. Yes, I wrote the article and yes I measured an original DC k-member, which was the source for numbers that were not the best fit.
