just built an 318 with kb167 pistons zerodecked with a set of aeroheads 318 castings 202 vavles ported to gasket size comp 230-480 cam 038 head gaskets thickness fired it up with an 340 torker intake my old eld.750 carb runs rich after reading bout the torker intake on this fourm i'm gonna put my old factory 4barll intake back on the motors also bored 040 and balanced what size carb should i run perfer to stay with eldebrock because of my kickdown an throttle linkage but heard an holley would perform better? what ya think?

I put a 625 cfm carter afb on my 340 and it worked better than the holleys ive had and i dont have to fiddle with it to make it work good..id go with the edelbrock in a smaller cfm...
hi cfms are highly overrated unless you got a monster engine

A 650 max for street use. It will provided good throttle response and enuff air flow to go. The Torker is marginal with that cam and intake on a 318 with a posibble problem of a port mismatch since the 318 has smaller ports than a 340/360.

I would use a dual plane intake. Not the performer.

Stick with a Edelbrock 600 or a Carter 625 #9636 if you can find one. The EB strip kit will work fine with it.

When i got my Edelbrock i got it from Napa auto parts they ordered it out of california.Tell them what it is for and it comes with the adapter plate.Just remember to order the linkage adapter if it needs it.I did not order it the dealers over site and had to go back and order it took an extra week to get car running

You are using the big port manifold on the small port heads, thats the first problem. Find a small port 4 bbl intake-I like offys, they come in both port sizes then try to jet the carb if it still seems rich. Yes most will say a 750 is too big and you might get better milage with a 600 but it can work good. Make sure you have a good strong spark, I like my msd 7al box but crane and others have good ones too. Headers are a must also if you want to keep that 750. Its a vacuum carb so thats a plus, I run a holley hp 750 DP on my 318 with 3.91 gears and its fine, plugs stay nice and clean, it has great power at high rpms but the gas milage stinks and I know it would be much better with a eddy 600 but if I want great milage I drive my buick lacrosse car.
