GM TBI on my 1970 360 duster

What pressure pump are you running?

I have a fuel sending unit with a 3/8 outlet dia. w 5/16 return it is not installed in the cleaned out and repaired tank. I'll put a couple Walbro fuel pickups on it to compensate for not having tank baffles.

I'm going to mount a VSS from a Jeep to read of to ring gear.

Because this car has Factory air and all the under dash space from the gas pedal to the passenger manual vent is packed full by the heater ac boxes. I'm going to extend the GM harness and mount it under the passengers seat.

I have the complete dist from the GMC and am thinking about changing the shaft and assembly into the Mopar dist out Affordable Fuel Injection have one done that way for $400.

...Lean Burn distributor + 7 or 8 pin HEI module. I have this combination on my Dart. Note that the engine will run if the pick-up is wired backwards, but timing will be all over the place. I'd keep the MSD box though.

MSMat,
Is there a way to check if the pickup is wired backwards? I'm running a LB distributor on my 340 (part of a MPI setup based on an AFI "kit"), and the tuning trouble I have FEELS like a spark problem, but I haven't fully ruled out fuel yet either. I'm pretty sure I wired everything properly, but between a house move and a new computer since I started the project, I'm having some issues backtracking through my notes. FWIW, I'm running a 7730 controller, tuning with TunerProRT and Moates' APU1 emulator.

Is this something I can check by forcing the ECM in to limp mode (short A&B on the ALDL) and putting a timing light on the damper?

Thanks,

Clair

You've pretty much got it. Disconnect the B pin from the HEI and hold a timing light on it while you rev the engine. If the pick-up's wired backwards, the timing will retard as RPM comes up. If it's wired correctly, it'll hold the same timing throughout the rev range.
