Hey All!!! I had an interesting day.. I looked at the converter hub closer today and found a crack in it. So, remembering I passed a place in town called converter something. I hopped in the truck and headed over to see what they could do. Well, (to keep it short) looks like I found the right spot. (Pro-Torque Converters) He took one look at the converter and instantly knew what it was from (A-904) and told me it was about a 3500 stall. Then he allmost FLOORED me when he told me... They make these from Chevy Citation converters!!!!! I even asked twice to make sure I heard that right. A Chevy part in my MOPAR? :banghead: <shudder> Anyway, he'll open the converter tommorow for a $$$ report. I'm also going to bring him the trans. To make sure I have low band apply and I'll update the sprag, new clutches etc. Hopefully it wont be a small fortune... :headbang:

Can anybody confirm or deny this?

Some converter manufacturers use "balloons" from other car manufacturers. I have seen them use pinto balloons so it could quite possibly be a citation balloon. If you want a 10" convertor you have to use a different core. My only question would be, you can't tell a stall speed of a converter by looking at it. You can have all kinds of stall speeds variations in a given converter diameter. So either he is trying to dazzle you with brilliance or baffle you with bulls**t.

Hey, Thanks 340 Mopar. Well, He didnt say it was exactly a 3500, I know it can vary. that was more of a "educated guess" I'd say on his part.

Thanks Again, I've heard the saying before...Hopefully he Dazzles me with a low price... This really wasnt part of the budget.

sure happens, e friend of mine has somekind of fordconverter in his chevy and half of my converter is cadilacsomething so it works! from what i think its just a matter of the right splinecount and size inside the converter, the right hub and right boltcirkel to the flexplate basicly, and of course the right internals for the aplication

In the 70s they used to call them vega converters because they would use the back half, weld on a new hub and voila , a 3500 stall . The chevy boys used to brag how they had a vega 3500 stall, well for a while anyways till the converter puked and ate their tranny.WE CHUCKLED AS WE TOWED THEM HOME.
