This is why you should port match your intake (pics)

Just remember it the heads have a quite a bit of pushrod pinch, you can only move so much air/fuel past that point. So if you open the intake up at the flange, then you slow the air down...as it passes the pushrod pinch, it speeds back up, then slows back down at the short turn...using up alot of energy in the process!
