Who makes a good front early A away bar? I have a PST bar and it's way too wide, hits my calipers.

Seems like I bought mine from Summit or Jegs it is for a 65. I just bought some newer LCAs with the Tabs and then had to put some front brackets on it. Works great.

Hey John if I had to do it all over again I'd get the FirmFeel unit. My 2cents. The are some other ones out there that may be good as well. The addco bar is not that great. The brackets are funky and I don;t like the look of it. I'd would weld my own brackets if my K-frame wasn't already powdercoated.

Mine does help a lot. Guess it's the crappy addco one but it works and looks okay for me...guess I'm not as picky...as someone...:) I was just darn happy to find one for a good price and there shipping was amazingly fast.

I just wish it looked better. seems to work fine though. :)

Firm Feel! I have one on my wagon. Fits great, hardware is great and installation is quick. Works with or without the factory tabs on the control arms.

I know Hellwig is supposed to be coming out with one soon if not already. One of the vendors is on here, I think his name is Dave? Said to fit much better than alot of the other aftermarket ones.

We have a 1-1/4" tubular front bar we just released for early a-body applications. Its part number 55914. It features dedicated lh and rh laser cut and cnc formed brackets. With the addition of our 6907 adjustable rear sway bar it will transform the way your car handles.
Here's a few pics.

Looks like it has an adapter that bolts where the factory holes are located and then the sway bar brackets bolt to the adapter. Reminds me of the adapter I used on a late 60s B Body I once had.

Summit has them listed at $240. When comparing this bar to others in the market keep in mind it is made from 1-1/4" DOM tubing so it weighs only 11 lb. This bar will work with our supplied end link tabs or the factory tabs. It does pick up one of the factory sway bar holes in the k-member and you have to drill another hole in the k-member. The brackets are 3/16" thick and there are lh and rh brackets to make a clean and simple installation.

Nice!

Whats the part number for the early A rear bar kit and is it the same as 67 later cars. How about some pictures of your rear bar if you have some.

Read his post for part #. All 63-76 a bodies have the same width rear and use the same rear bar.

Shortly I will be doing a install and write up on this exact front bar, with pics. I for one really like the engineering aspect of Hellwig bars ALOT.

Is there any clearance issues with the K Frame to lower radiator support bracket? Looks like it might be close.

Dave, the brackets and bar look like quality stuff. Do the instructions make it clear where to mount the brackets on 63-64 cars that don't have the factory sway bar holes in the k-member?

Haven't seen any w/o the holes. We did 3 test fits on a 64 Valiant, 65 Barracuda and a 66 Valiant. If you don't have holes, I would reccomend assembling it all as shown in the photos and attach the end links to the sway bar to hold the ends in place. Then use a floor jack to hold the assembly up and locate the brackets for best fit. The bushings are supposed to go against the inside bends to keep the bar from moving side to side so that should help to get the brackets aligned. Once you locate the brackets you can mark the holes and drill. The holes are not hard to drill as it is on the vertical section of the K-member and access is easy from the front side. You only have to drill through one wall of the K-member and it is wide open to install the nuts on the back side.

The core support strap from the K-member to the lower core support is close but have not had any make contact in use. Adjusting the length of the spacer tubes on the end links can rotate the bar to gain clearance if needed.

To clarify: I can buy two of these, same part number, and they will work front and rear on my '69 Barracuda?

55914-TUBULAR FRONT
6907- ADJUSTABLE REAR THAT FITS ALL 63-76 A BODIES

I'm looking forward to adding some sway bars to my early a. Would like to see how the back bar mounts to the axle or shock plates.

Here's a pic of our rear bar installed on a 69 Barracuda. The part number is 6907 and it fits all A-bodies from 63-76.

We don't sell direct unless we are doing a group buy. We are not doing many group buys since we are trying to support our retailers in this economy.

Do these bars come with a warranty? I only ask because Ive had brackets bend in the past from mild street use...
great looking front bar btw
