Sounds to me...you need to make a friend locally...and sleep at their place! You go every year right? Isn't there any aloha spirit at Carlisle anymore?

Aloha Mike

You're lucky! If I want to go, I have a $1000 gasoline bill or airline tickets and car rental to add to that!

shop around....there are alot cheaper rates out there that that! check the old holiday inn (now motel 6) behind bob evens. much cheaper!

well we usually reserve a room early (this way you definatley have a room) , then after the first of the year find cheaper rooms and cancel the reserved one. has worked out pretty good the last few years doing things this way. always saved money over the early reservation. . gotta keep looking man. stop being lazy.. :)

i doubt it. the hotels will know where they can price it and still have people show up..

I checked room rates this year and was offered $179. in Mechanicsburg. Greg Purcell stayed in Shippensburg about 20 minutes away and I think he told me $69. I pitched a tent, worked for me, cost $10 from Wednesday to Sunday...

not being lazy,,,i like the location of where i stay,,close to the fair grounds and close to nice restraunts,,,funny to hear that from some one who didnt coem for the entire weekend,, but since they turned away over 30 rooms of people that didnt have reservations,,they say they can now charge full rate on thursdays,,,that pizzzes me off,,,will cost 200 bucks more for the same room in 2011

We got nailed good at the Stupid 8 just east of Bob Evans. From Thursday thru Saturday night 1 room cost $396.00. Thats after my AAA discount. Last year same place cost $346.00 without my AAA discount. Their continental breakfast sucked..couldnt suck enough. Had to get them to come in and clean the room too, had freakin food growing fur under one of the beds. Wouldnt take the ol' lady to this shitbag hotel thats for sure.

I didn't go all weekend for a reason. I told ya what to do to save money. it has worked for us every year. But if ya choose to stay in that location your gonna have to ponie up the cash or not stay there. Simple isn't it? Carlisle sure isn't gonna suffer from the rates anytime soon. The had a record number of cars there this year.

400 bucks is a lot of cash to spend to go there. not to mention eating and getting in and buying junk. damn,

That record number was directly influenced by all the brand new Challenger and Chargers that entered. Classic cars were down.

Probably right. But numbers = cash and that's all that counts with shows like Carlisle. Personally I think the cars should have to be atleast 20 or so years old to be there.
