So I was researching the history of the Dodge plants in Detroit, and I came up with a question. According to my VIN my '72 Swinger was built in Hamtramck. Now my question is, did Dodge build A bodies in the Dodge Main plant only? I heard somewhere that they owned the old Packard complex for quite a while, and built cars there in the 70's and 80's. Any insight would be pretty helpful, I've been through Allpar and Hamtramck Historical, and neither of them are doing anything but adding to the murky muckiness of this question.

Thanks in advance, Ryan.

I know when I did vin decode on my 74 is said assembly plant was Newark, De.

For sure I know that back in 1965 Dodge built their cars in Hamtramck, St Louis and Los Angeles.

Which years did they build cars in
Newark
Belvedere
Windsor

?

I would assume that Plymouth and Dodge "A"s were built at the same plants. Meaning, if a given plant built "A"s, they'd abuild Dodge and Plymouths.

My '72 Scamp was built in the Windsor Canada plant.

Not sure if any of this helps.

It does help to an extent, but I'm still trying to figure out *which* plant in Hamtramck or Detroit in general built A's.
