I have 2 sets of those hardboards to choose from. All are warped, one set worse than the other. It would be easy enough to cut out a new set that would be flat. Substitute material is my delima. I have some corigated polystyrene ( was a store display, Coca-Cola ). I dont think it would warp. It is about 3 times the thickness of the factory hard board though.
So other than you prefer Pepsi, what do you think ? I have 4 hours to make a decision. TIA to FABO

Well first off substitute material didn't work. The nicer set of boards are cleaned and reused.
My heartbreak is in the aftermarket headlinner.
It was made by PUI and purchased through ebay over 2 years ago.
The pic shows the difference from the OEM linner.
We went ahead with the install but I'm not happy with it. The front bow leans back about 1.5 inches from where to should be. I.m afaid it wont stay there. I considered tieing it forward with electric fence wire in a similar fashion as the hooks that the factory used to limit the rear bows travel. Thing is there is not a place to tie the wire to the header so it doesn't show under the sunvisors :(
I have to wonder if the fastback has a slightly different bow spacing and I have the wrong part. Anyway I'm stuck in the middle of the install without a clue whats my next move.

Does anyone know if the fastback and notchback headlinners are the same as far as the bow spacing is concerned ?
No reply from PUI yet. This has me at dead stop :(

On my fastback hooking the lip ( where the windshield gasket comes in contact with the headliner)

Bow one 14 1/16"
Bow two 22 1/16"
Bow three 31 5/8"
Bow four 40 5/8"
Bow five 50 1/8"

Three through five are hard and don't move but one and two do move.

Those are the same measurements I'm getting to the seams of this new headlinner. Still the front bow will not stand up in the notchback.

I looked on Legendary website and the fastback calls for a different headliner than the notch.... if that helps any. To me everything should be the same except toward the rear.

Ok This headlinner wasn't cut for either rear window. There was however a second and seperate piece of the same snake bite perforated material in the box that I have no use for in the notchback.
I'm starting to believe the ebay vendor shipped me the wrong part. GRRRrrr

The label on the box says HDLR CUDA 67-9 BLK PERF. Doesn't specify FB or NB. I just read a description that says, Extra material included to cover sail panel boards, sunvisors, etc.. Now to me that reads make yerself a hat and purse from it for all we care, just send your money.
Please note; The extra material isn't wide enough to correct an illfit part. Good luck.

So I just talked with a guy at PUI about this headlinner. He says there is a difference between NB and FB and they carry different part numbers. The part number on my box is correct for NB.
Then there should also be a part number written on the forward most bow sleeve that matches the part number on the box. There are no such markings found on the headlinner I recieved. It is highly probable that this item was boxed wrong.
The guy is going to do some investigating and call me back. I feel certain he will make me happy brfore the days end. Stay tuned
I was wrong . The guy never called back :(

Is he on the west coast .... it's still 3 something there. I don't believe I have ever heard of PUI?

BUT

Man I hate assholes like that! Not about the headliner but about telling you he will call and never does! If I tell someone that I am going to do something or call for instance I will!

I tryed to call him back brfore I posted. They had already went home for the day.
If I need to buy another headlinner I will ( from Legondary ofcourse ).
Money is tight as a fat babies socks right now but I can't put the original headlinner back in. Maybe I should have said money is tight as a umbrella headlinner. LOL

Issue tentively resolved so no more bashing PUI this thread please.
Their patterns for these headlinners have been tweaked since my purchase in 2007.
A proper fitting part should arrive here middle of next week.
All I can add is , if you have any part still in the box that was purchased back when the economy was good, keep your fingers crossed. Sellers were rushing items to market back then and buyers were linning up. Only those who still have money can take advantage of todays marketplace. Recently these headlinners are offered as low as 62.00 which is about half what I paid in 07.
Good luck and happy moparing, shopping, whatever. :)

Update.
well it's been over 3 weeks since I discovered the PUI headlinner didn't fit.
On 6-23 I thought the issue was resolved. About a week later I called PUI again to see if a correct part had been shipped. The guy on the phone this time ( someone different every time) looks for me in their computer and says yes your headlinner is ordered but not shipped. Then he says, " She has ordered a fastback headlinner for you".
Damnit I told her the car is a notchback this headlinner is for a notchback.
He claimed he went into the computer and corrected my order.
A couple hours later I decided, FECK PUI ! I called Legondary Interiors and first appologised for buying elsewhere in the first place. Then I ordered a headlinner from them.
Guess what, the headlinner from Legondary just arrived. I feel certain it will fit since they guarentee correct fit along with their lifetime warrenty.
I still haven't recieved anything from PUI. Not even a email saying it's on the way.
Next time we hold a member benefit auction I should have a black headlinner to donate. Fastback or notchback ? Will it fit neither car ? Who knows ?
By the way, Legondary Interiors gave me a great price on their headlinner too.
Thanks Chris and everyone else at Legondary Interiors. My loyalty and support are yours.

Thanks for the update.
I know to stay away from PUI now.
I have always liked Legendary.
Get some pics up when you start to install please. : )

OK, Gonna be a sweat fest here for sure.
I pretty much knew when I spead this headlinner out that it was gonna fit like one of Johnny Carsons' suits.Taylor made. LOL The rear window and tails at sail panels are precut too which wasn't the case with the PUI product. Most importantly the bow sleeves/seams line up perfectly.

Is there a part number actually on the one from legendary? I bought one 3 years ago from legendary and am just now installing it and the front bow tips as you described. Mine is a fast back. I wonder if I have the wrong one.
Mike

Oh yeah: I feel your pain.I bought one from legendary at the mopar nationals.Let it set for two years, started to put it in and it wouldnt fit.I was told I have the wrong bows but it is the ones it was born with.Caveat Emptor make sure you take it out and check it before thirty days are out.Good Luck

I dont know if the bow locations in the roof are different from notch to fastback or not.
I do know that the 67 roof is different from the 68 up in one respect....
68 up have the shoulder belt hole where 67 had its coat hooks. Thus the coat hooks were moved rearward in 68 up. I can do some measure and compare of the bow locations in 67 and a 68 notch. There may be some difference.
I add this for what its worth too... the bows in the 67 are color coded on one end.
I dont find any color on the 68 bows. Stay tuned.

those clips that the bows sit in are the same in 57 and 68 model notch.
With end of tape hooked in windshield frame ( glass is out )
10 - 18 - 26.5 - 34.5 and that rear one drops way off the line so I din't measure it.
Bow color markings from front to back are,
gold - white - blue - red - black
the forward 2 , gold and wite, are so close to the same that to switch them probably wouldn't make a difference.
Recieved another headlinner from PUI late yesterday. Haven't opened the box , no need now.
Thata all I got guys. If anyone wants to compare this info to 69 notch or all 3 years of fastback , great .
