Hi,

So i have this reoccurring problem with the dart every year. The Dart came with a 904 and a transmission cooler. Steel lines from the tranny to rubber lines that ran to the cooler. I have changed transmissions and put a new cooler in. I have the same steel lines from the tranny. Where steel line connects to the (3 year old) rubber cooler lines, I have a leak every year.
The steel line has a flare on it, the rubber goes over it with a hose clamp. Last year i just cut the hose and slid it on further and it worked.
I could probably do that again this year. But before I do, is this how the connection is supposed to be? that is how it was when I bought it (my first old car). Also i thought that the new cooler came with the hose and hose clamps.

Is there a better way to do this so that I don't have to do it ever year?!

Also, how much pressure runs through the cooler lines?

Thanks,

Steve

What style of connections are on the cooler?

I think they are similar. Hose clamps on the hose, so the cooler must have steel with some sort of flare.

The guys that did my engine and tranny did this:

AN fittings on the tranny end also
It's a B & M cooler

My big block duster has rubber between the cooler and the steel lines but I have not had an issue with leakage in the last three years or so. I did make sure the hose I used was rated for transmission fluid use though.

I run the steel line up to the front of engine then use the powr steer/trans fulid hose to make the bends to radiator cooler. I use 2 of the screw clamps on each end and have not had any leaks.

Thats the same setup as on my 66 Dart Tony.Definetly the way to go,never have to worry about a leak and the tranny runs cool.8):cheers:Oh,I also had stainless lines made up,pricey but worth it.
