do i have these mounts on the block correct? i dont think they are. mocking up motor and tranny to get a drive shaft cut. everything seems a little close to the fire wall.

I don't know how the mounts bolted up flushed to the block up in front of the ears. I tried and ended up placing them in back of the ears. Turns out in back of the ears is the right way.
I had to loosen up the trans mount and pull the unit up a 1/2 inch from where my 318 block was sitting.
You should wait until the motor is in on the mounts-trans hook up and no hoist helping before measuring the cut for the drive shaft. all the weight will push the car down and slightly change the distance. Oh yeah, no jack stands either. Just how I would do it, maybe a 1/4 of an inch would be no biggie?
