Car cover question

I'm looking to buy a car cover for my 1965 dart GT. Does anyone know of a good company (that won't kill me in cost!) that carries them? I'm looking for one of the "waterproof" like covers.

Before you order one, I have a new one. I bought one for my 66 and one for my Mustang and never used the Mustang one. They were both the same size and it fit the 66 Dart snuggly. I would sell the new one for $ 40. plus shipping...3 layer..I can get you all the particulars later today.

That's great! Shoot me a PM with info on it and if its what i think it is i'd be more than happy to take that off your hands. The car will be parked outside so id want the UV and the "waterproof" style.

Be careful. A car cover can do more harm than good. If a car is properly cared for living outside without a cover is better than with a cover. Any dirt, no matter how fine can act like sandpaper under a car cover. Any movement of the cover will leave scuff marks in the paint. Moisture trapped between the cover and the car will cause paint to lift and the car to rust much, much, faster than without a cover. Even with a waterproof cover, dampness and humidity will collect under the cover and that condensation will be trapped like a sauna and the car will suffer. A dust cover for inside a garage is OK for storage with proper preparation. The car bust be completely cleaned and claybarred before wax and then put the clean cover on immediately. Well maintained waxed and washed cars live long lives outside without any car cover. Good luck.

I agree, but i still use one but i also use a blue plastic tarp on top of car cover to keep it clean, i live in a humid, dusty inviroment and use it to keep the humidity salt air off the car, i quit using the cover on my camaro cuz of the fine scratches and PITA to deal with cuz the wind will blow them off and after a year they age and begin to tear, i say they work best in a garage kept car, trust me they will aggravate the crap out of you and you better have help taking it off and on cuz they will slide off while trying to cover or uncover, im trying to paint and seal the underside of my Dart so i dont have to rely on a cover any more

Sounds like great advice.. I'm worried about sun damage and a bit of urban camouflage sounds pretty nice to me. I could totally understand how it could scratch the paint however. All that worries me quite a bit. There is an older 60something mustang down the street that is just as nice as my dart, uncovered and no one messes with it.. i dunno. I always figured a car cover would protect from the elements..
 
Back in October 2008, my son and I bought an inexpensive cover from Auto Zone for $29.99. It was called a Valuecraft, made by Budge. It was a size 4, for car 19' or 228" long. While not a super waterproof cover, it has helped shed water from the car and has especially been good at dust and sun protection. It has been 22 months now that it has been on the car without any tears or rips in the cloth or seams. These are pictures of when we first bought it. BTW, the car is a 74 Swinger.

just a thought if your is in a not so safe area in the open someone could throw a lit ciggarette at it or set it on fire just to be an a--, also if your not driving your car that often then a cover is a good idea, alot of wear and tear also comes from taking it on and off, i live on a corner with a high traffic street so the dust and wind is bad here and that makes it hard on a cover too. i have mine tied with rope and heavy rubber chocks across the top to keep it secured on the car
 
yah it would be in a "covered" parking stall. and i say "covered" because only half of the stall is covered. if it was fully covered i probably wouldnt do a cover at all..
