  • Remember your Hemi buy, previous posts.. Had 600 bucks burning in my pocket,12 years ago. A local familiar(uh-hoh..) Mexican family, had an all original powder blue two door hardtop '66 Fair lane,96k on the odometer.. Drove beautiful, was agreement on sale..They wanted me to send money ,to the Mexico homeland, without a pink in sight.I even offered, to pay the owner via Greyhound, to close the deal... Of course, no response.Ugh..
Go get it !(lol).. Took a trio of friends to Pomona(06..).It's a damn good show, you already know ,the expenses... Go enjoy yourself, let Moochie & Fraud boil,in their uselessness and futility, until someone figurehead posts something they babble about. See you soon, don't read any Nazi comic books,lmao...

Finally ,found a bass ... Mech1 /Normie sent me a Schecter Stiletto, on his dime. Still shocked, haven't even had time to look for a amp. Working too many hours, happy in that move...
Talking about Trump's advertising keenness.. Watching NHRA on BSPN, funny car rounds.. The 1 vs. 16 qualified, 16 was red white & blue. The hood relief was up, had Trump's picture on it.. The car was eliminated, first round, he got his message across..
    Part 5 Read parts 1, 2, 3, and 4, first, lol

I'm sitting on a 1969 383 that built to spec about 400hp, with an 833 4 speed on it's butt. If I ever get the time to build something to put it in ( probably a pick up) I'll be a happy camper. I just never thought I be so buy in retirement.

My middle son wants the 71 Dart. And he also asked for the 383. He just purchased a 1958 Willys Jeep FC 150. It's similar to this 1959 model...
    Part 4...
By having the dealership install the rear before I took possession of the new vehicle, the rear was covered by the factory warranty. As I recall, it was originally an 8-1/4. The optional factory equipment available on a mid 80's 1/2 ton van were pretty lame. The dealer purchased the original rear back from me as a new piece, as it had less than 8 miles on it. I don't know what became of it after that.
    Part 3
There was limited availability of a manual trans, but I've never seen one.
Also, the 9 3/4 rear was not available in the B100 (1/2 ton vans).

Here's a little info you might get a chuckle at, My 71 Swinger presently has an 8-3/4 in it, but for a few years I ran it with a narrowed Dana 60. Both with the 225 slant, and a 380 HP 360 crate engine. I brought the car back to it's original factory specs, except for the drive train. The original slant 6 is mildly built it has a modified 727 and an 8-3/4 rear presently, because I simply can tolerate the 7-1/4 that it originally came with. Other than that, the car is completely back to factory build sheet specs, down to the AM radio, and factory wheel covers. The slant puts out about 250HP at the flywheel though.

The 1986 van was an "off the lot" purchase. The 8 3/4 Sure Grip was installed by the Dealership at my request. I had to purchase the rear through the parts department.
    part 2...

I've Always preferred Danas. Hemi's 440's 413's etc, never once a rear end failure with a Ford 9 or a Dana 60. 8-/34'swere very stout, too, but I did break two of them over the years. one shattered the ring gear, and the other sheared the splines off one of the axles. The switch t Ford 9's and Dana's and the problem went away.
I found that using quality aftermarket components in the 8-3/4 rears worked great, but it was too expensive. I could get a 9" and even a 60 for less than the cost of a built 8-3/4, and the 9" had a far greater gear ratio selection available for them than just about anything else on the market at the time, including the GM 12 Bolt.

    Also, the V8 Options in 1976 were 318, 360, 400, 440. On the 200 and 300 all V8's came with 727's. The 225 slant 6 was available in the 100,200,300's but I believe they used 904/999 transmissions.
    Part 1.

The 1976 B200 van was a van that I ordered from the factory. The 9-3/4" rear was available on the B200 and B300 vans, with any V8, as I recall (that was nearly 40 years ago). The 9 1/4 rear was the "stock rear" on the B200 and B300 of the day. Good rear, too. I just prefer Danas. Had one in my 68 Hemi RR from the factory, and in my 69 440 GTX. To me, much more desirable that the 8-3/4.

quote=Frankie: Here's a list of my MoPar purchases since 1976...
    1976 Dodge B200 Tradesman Van (new) 318/727/9 3/4
    1986 Dodge B150 Royal wagon 318x904x8 ¾ (new)
2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Crew cab
    2010 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Crew Cab/Dually

    Hey Frankie,

did the 86 wagon get the 8 3/4" installed post facto?

    You could order a 76' van with a 318 AND A DANA 60?

-Am not pickin' a fight, so much as second guessing myself

I thought that the 8 3/4's ended around 1974ish and I thought that 9 1/4" was a common late 70's-> thru I don't know how long rear end for dodge vans and trucks. If it was a 318, why wouldn't they just install an 8 1/4 behind it?

I am very curious. If it's a mistake, no biggie-but I sure would appreciate the parameters of Mopar powertrain installations per model, it would be very helpful in the junk yards.

    thanks for your time!
Mopekid, still here... Getting married, finished college ( engineering degree,IIRC ),looking for a suitable job...
I still see Karl Rove's ***( and his PAC followers..) ,the big problem. ( letting the "supposedly conservative RNC group" , blending with the Tea Party) I am curious on your thoughts, on why the current "conservative",( it isn't...) won't blend with Tea Party consistently... Display your thoughts, ( Love New York people here. Tell it like it is...) Karl Rove, needs to be " moved", my opine...
Just heard the Byrd's "8 miles high " covered live by Golden Earring ( 1977 ,live covers album) I thought they did a decent job,on the song .You might think otherwise, I found it a hoot.
Lmao... You definitely don't get "Time returned on investment" with liberal intelligent responses. You do win on "R.O.I " ,with liberal idiocy,though.....
lmao.... Contrary to popular belief, I only get on here in the mornings, now. Seldom other times during the day. The good part about the internet is that, it isn't necessary to on line at the same time to keep in touch, or annoy someone's ***! lol
Hello ,Frankster. ...been a while. Working late nights /early a.m.'s, at the moment. Had to drop by, & say Hello/ annoy your ***...
