  • Hi zigs, I am new here and need some help. I am in the process of putting a 354 in a 1973 Scamp and I am hopes you can offer some advice to me. What do I do to work around that huge steering gear? 1949 was a great year to be born in!
331 , 354 , 392 were all the same size but the 392 had an 1" taller deck thus a longer stroke and made it a BB. The 426 was narrower . It was built off the 426 Max Wedge.
The Gen 1 Hemi's were wider at the shoulders then the 426. I had less then 1/2" from valve cover to inside finder well. I could have made steering work but didn't have the money. The 470 is from a stroked 400(1973) about 550HP
Your very welcome, Hemi's in ANY of the A bodies can lead to steering issues as we all have known or are learning of. you'd think the 354 would be smaller then say the 426, so..... no different on the 392, the blocks were really close the same for the type Hemi they are. the 426 was known as the Elephant for a reason, I did not think the 354 would have been the same as it was a bit smaller of a motor then the 426....

The 470 Stroker, that off a 440 block? What was the base engine? To make it a 470?
This is for 32 tooth speedometer gear. Shipping is included in the price $21.
