    The carb being formely used on a Chebbie is always suspect... so yes check the jetting.

    Not likely at all. IIRC Jesse has built a 360 cresting the 500 mark @6400 and a 371 making 540-ish HP @6800. So you will have to wind a 318 to 7K...

    I have an older copy of Desktop Dyno that I used to play around with years ago... Just for giggles I plugged in some numbers for a 'standard' 318...

    Yes... the 5.2 Mag is the better 318... the 318 LA was 155 NET hp.
