Thinking of selling my 65 formula s. The car has been disassembled. The body is good. Will need floor pans in front. I have over $2000 worth of new parts included with the car. New fuel tank installed. New leaf springs installed. Rebuilt transmission installed. 273 commando engine installed with...
I have my 273 Commando wired and ready to start using a remote starter. How do I get power to the coil. Hot wire to ballast resister or to positive on the coil. I have pertonix point replacement. I haven't started on the interior so no wires are connected inside
Thanks for your help
I'm to the point of running the wiring and have a question. 2 wires come off the Distributor. I have a color coded wiring diagram but it doesn't show the red wire. I'm sure one wire goes to the coil but where does the other go. This system is stock.
I'll try to find a part number. Everything went in place easily. The heads I purchased are stock heads. Number 301 and 302. Added new valves and seals. The gasket set I used came from summit I believe and was in a felpro box. Had everything I needed. Sorry I can't be more specific on the part...
I have decided to keep the 273 commando very close to stock. I am keeping the carter afb 4 barrel and the stock cam. I replaced the heads with a used set adding new valves. The gasket set was from felpro. The head gaskets were very thin metal. I did some cleaning on the exhaust but not a lot...
I know the manifolds will not stay red very long but painted them for protection. This has been a project that has taken much longer than I had planned
Has the original Commando cam. It is an automatic. I would have liked a 4 speed, but had surgery on my arm to repair torn ligaments I felt this was a better option for me.
I've assembled most of my 273 commando engine. All looks good but I'm not getting oil to the heads when spinning the pump with my drill. Shows 70 pounds oil preasure. Have new smelling pump. I hope my rechargeable drill just runs down to quickly to pump it up. I have everything assembled except...
I plan on installing the heads on my 273 tommorow. I've read several different articles about adjusting valves. Most talk about adjusting a warm engine. Mine isn't. My question is what measure should I use. Stock 273 commando engine. New pistons and rebuilt heads. New valves.
It's been a long...
Glad I'm not alone. Not sure why my wife complains though. I have parts in the den downstairs, my sons bedroom after he moved out. Parts in my 10x12 storage building too. I dissasimbled the 273 just a few weeks ago. Have all of the bolts in small bags. Put the heads and all that should be with...
I should be thankful for my small garage. Seems that I spend more time looking for parts than I do working on my 65 Formula S. I'm in the process of rebuilding my 273 Commando. I have new pistons installed. The new oil pump is installed. Heads are ready to install.
So I installed the oil pump...
Definitely thanks for sharing. My wife isn't interested but I am for sure. I've got several friends in Chicago area who wish to go. I lived in marina del rey. California 40 plus years ago. I'm retired so if my 65 formula s is good when I finish it I told my wife I was going. She asked how long...
