So when I first saw this photo and @66fyssh mentioned that is used to mount the radiator, I thought that with the Champion radiator it would not work. Then I looked at it again and realized that it adds a lot of stability to the radiator core support. After a lot of hammering and bending that...

Yeah, that guy worked in my car for the last time. He did a few sketchy things on my Barracuda and I rather buy the tools and/ or learn some new skills before I let someone else touch it. It's a shame because the guy has a '65 Formula S and learned how to drive in a '66 Valiant.

Thanks for your help @66fyssh & @barracudakid, but: Problem solved... Also, mystery solved. When I bought the BArracuda in 2009 it had really worn out leaf springs that had leaf spring helpers under them and coil over shocks. The larger diameter of the shocks required that spacer that you see...

The only ones I found are these, but for that amount of money I might as well get a complete Mopar shock mount kit.

Thanks @66fyssh! Now I know I'll have to bend it down. I'm not gonna use a stock radiator, so the bracket might be useless, but ok. Next question: I'm trying to replace my rear shocks, but one of the upper nuts is on there so tight, I can't get it off. I already ruined it, so I need a new...

Still working on the wiring, which is taking forever, but I'm fixing a lot of things I mickey-moused over the last almost 14 years. I needed a switched power source for the tach and it took me a while to figure out how to best do it. Before the Barracuda I had a '71 Beetle and when I bought it...

Didn't take a lot of photos, but got a lot done. Replacement exhaust manifold is in and I really don't want to have to move the engine again. I shimmed the motor mount on the driver side 3/16" and now the exhaust has about 1/16" clearance to the torsion bars and some other spots. I wish it was a...

Making progress... I was gonna re-use the Champion radiator that I got new for the slant 6 about 4-5 years ago, but I realized that the lower hose has a smaller diameter and I wasn't sure if that radiator was enough to cool the 318 with the A/C (that's still waiting to be hooked up for the first...

    You can........

Thanks for the shoutout @JDMopar! I'm working on my first engine swap and one of the most annoying things is buying the wrong parts. Especially the '65 Barracuda I'm working on (essentially all early A-bodies) has a lot of parts that are not only hard to find, but it's also not that obvious that...

I love painting stuff... I know I don't have a 340, but I was driving the car for 13 years with V8 badges even though it "only" had a slant 6. I call it wishful thinking... In the end I want to put a '65 Commando air cleaner on it, which is also not going to be 100% accurate haha.

Also, I double checked and the Dart actually has a wheelbase of 111" vs the 106" of the Valiants and Barracudas (and Dart wagons!). So the 6-1/4" is not that far off from the 5" difference, if that's what it was.

Thank you @dibbons, I'll have to do something like that. I'll also have to find those little exhaust braces.

    65 Barracuda daily driver

Very, very sore, but very, very happy, because the exhaust is 95% in! The driver side downpipe is touching the torsion bar, so I might have to shim the engine on that side. Other than that I just have to bolt on the clamps and tighten everything once the torsion bar issue is solved. Test...

Hi Dibbons, I've been following your build and noticed that you are apparently the only one on FABO who has installed the tti exhaust on a '65 Barracuda. Thanks for your tips - I will probably still have a few questions. I checked and per tti instructions/ specs the engine should be in the right...

The tti instructions called for milling down the head. If you scroll up a bit you can see that I accomplished that with a hand saw. Probably not the best way to do it, but it worked...

It's been a while and for various reasons I only got little things done here and there. One problem was that I had the wrong 90 degree oil filter adapter. For the early A-body you need part number 2463661. Here is a photo that shows exactly how they are different (correct one is on the right)...

Early A-body 90 degree oil filter adapter issue

So for the early A-body you need part number 2463661. Here is a photo that shows exactly how they are different (correct one is on the right): I guess in '67 they made the engine bays bigger and changed the angle. Not sure why, maybe the oil flows better in that angle?!

[WANTED] Early A-body 90 degree oil filter adapter

I'm looking for an Early A-body 90 degree oil filter adapter - like the on the left in the photo. Part number should be 2463661. I can trade you you one with part number 2780998, which doesn't fit in my '65 Barracuda.

With the TTi dual exhaust you need the adapter, the shorty alone won't work

Ok, thank you for that info. Now on to finding an early one, which I assume is part #2463661.

Early A-body 90 degree oil filter adapter issue

I'm having difficulty getting the oil filter to fit between the frame rail and TTi dual exhaust in my '65 Barracuda. The engine is a '69 318 and the oil filter position should be identical to the '65 273, right? I have checked the engine position like the TTi instructions ask for and it's...

Still haven't made much progress on the Barracuda. In order to get the oil filter adapter in, I had to take the downpipe out and with the oil filter adapter in I now have to take out the torsion bar on the passenger side to get the downpipe back in. Really not much room there... Also had Covid...

[WANTED] Valve Cover for 1981-1987 Hydraulic Slant 6

Looks like you found one. I had that same issue before I ended up swapping the slant for a small block. I was told you can swap the head for an earlier head and keep the hydraulic lifters and rocker arms etc. That way use an earlier valve cover, which is MUCH easier to find. If I remember...

It's been way too hot (even for California) to be outside and work on the car, so there hasn't been much progress. But: I finally got a crank pulley that aligns with the water pump pulley and the alternator. There's still a minor issue with that little bushing that is in the rear hole of the...
