Keep in mind that truck/van Dana axles don't have provisions for a pinion snubber. All dana 60 carriers are the same. The difference is in the innards/spline,axles and tube ends.
Yep,just oblong the holes. I would set the ends of the u bolts where they should be on the plate and mark the location then drill the holes and use a saw to cut out the metal between the old and new holes,no CNC machine needed.
I'm not positive but the 61 and 62 are their own animal when it comes to parts. Is it push button operated? If not then you should be able to use one up to 67 from any slant car. I'm really not up on the early 60's stuff.
IF I drain it first I pull the slip yoke out and then take out the speedo housing but no matter how much comes out there will be a bunch more when you lift the engine and trans out so have a pan handy and a friend to make sure he keeps it where it needs to be as you lift the assy out.
Some yokes are longer than others. How far is it in the trans? Does it bottom out if you jack the rear end up to where most of the weight is supported by the jack?
