    water pump pully size

When the engine gets hotter the faster you go its got a clogged rad, you need a new rad. Pump speed can be too slow at idle, not at 70 mph

    Spinning the water pump faster?

I had good luck speeding up the water pump. March pulley's has what you need. You might have to shim the water pump pulley from behind. I modified some Chevy spacers

Should you run a car without a thermostat?

I do know my engine cools off better with no thermostat, even tried those "high flow" ones. Once the weather outside is cool, like today high 60, the engine needs a thermostat or it take 10 mins to reach 150, and likely stay under 165, that is too cool

Should you run a car without a thermostat?

They are necessary in cool-cold weather. As for the manufacture advice, of course they will say you need to buy their parts, even in the summer run our Thermostat and if it runs hot well we sell new fans and radiators also. They are not going to offer a free fix tip

Should you run a car without a thermostat?

That is a myth, I get by each summer with no thermostat, engine runs 10--15 degrees cooler. The 180 will be going back in soon but come next May, off with the thermstat once again. Engine warms up quick in summer heat and hold 170 to 180 while driving, perfect for my set up

    Robershaw Thermostats

And--what happen? Heck your in 110 heat everyday--correct, why run a 180, just cause it might say 160 doesn't mean the engine stay at 160, not in 110 heat, the motor will run hotter, heck garages used to use 160 stats in the summer before emissions stad came around. Was common to change the...

    Robershaw Thermostats

Why is it dumb if it works? I got a nice autometer temp gauge, engine warms up to 170 in around 5 to 7 mins max. Never goes over 200 even if i get caught in a 5 min traffic jam. Driving around town in 80 degree weather, its right around 180, do a good wot pass, stop later at the light for a...

    When Is Hot Too Hot?

Why not just get a new autometer gauge that will tell you how hot the water really is? Could even mounted it below the dash

    is 205degrees to hot?

I drop my temps 10--20 degrees by removing the T-sat. In hot weather the engine warms up quick enough--a tad slower but so what. Can't hurt to try, how much is the gasket, what do you have to lose, I think the faster water flow helps. Come fall the T-sat goes right back in.

    Robershaw Thermostats

I just remove the T -sat in the summer, engine warms up quick and stays around 170 till pushed hard, even then it cools off quickly back to 180 or so, You can just drill your own little hole on the side of the T-sat, all I do to everyone I put in, no matter the car.

Anbody running an electric water pump on the street

Not too happy with my crankshaft pulley from March. Its the 5 1/4 size and was great in my worn out old motor but got a fresh 340 in now and hate to see the temp gauge even hit 200...175 the hottest its been so far. For like $100 I could get a different size pulley but what about running a...

electric fan on the factory 67 barracuda radiator?

If you want it good anywhere and that means traffic jams too, I would get a dual fan, with a shroud. You should run a relay with it, since it pull alot of amps or be sure to use 12 gauge wire and a high amp switch. Its not cheap to do it right. Thats why for the money the factory fan works...
