    Stubborn Pitman arm

You could do what I did in my drinking days in my early 20's. Take nut off, try heat, prying to get it off, refuse to buy/borrow a pitman arm puller and just say forget it, I do it later and leave the nut off. I did that, drove the heck out of the car for a week and like forgot about it. Was...

K member removal - engine in car

Not sure if this still goes on but way back when the local high schools would have after school shop classes for adults--and us high schoolers who skip and flunk day classes, LOL All you need is some help and time welding. The welder needs the right settings for the type of steel--that is...

off set upper control arm bushings worth it???

I wanna see these new sport cars pull that off, in fact any new cars. My arm rip open. I do recall the car doing a high speed U turn on a freeway, car dug in to the dirt turn around great--dirt turn arounds can take higher speeds cause the tires wedge in to the dirt..like everything seem fine...

K member removal - engine in car

Not really. I gotta wear my seat belt while they can ride those deadly 2 wheel drive things. And if I just bump them and they get killed it could be all my fault my legally. If they were in a 4 wheel car/suv they might not even been hurt one little bit. Its not fair or right. Motorcycles are...

off set upper control arm bushings worth it???

Yeah but I took my stock arms off years ago, cleaned them up, had my local shop press new bushings in and I put new ball joints in, painted it all up. Cost me over $50 a piece. 1 year later one arm crack and almost rip the ball joint right out, now a few years later the other stock arm has play...

Late 70's lower control arms pivots, worth changing?

Do they last a long long time? I changed just about everything else expect the K member bushings. Car must have lots of miles, 200,000 I would guess by now. I know the arms look different than the early 70's arms. It seems tight and quiet like nothing is wrong.

    Reducing PS pump pressure

I'm begining to wish I put in a manual steering box by now. Now I recall back in the 70's older teenagers saying how power steering should just be in 4 door cars. High rpm's power steering pumps don't like either. Power steering is nice at very low speeds, after that it becomes more of a...

K member removal - engine in car

If you use the wood across the fenders be sure the wood is thick enough. It will sag after a few days--hours even if not. The fenders should be fine if no rust. These old cars were made strong

Cheap tubular control arms for replacements?

Look at all of SPC arms for Chrysler. Some are expensive but they don't crack and break later on. I would not be surprise is SPC is from China. What can U do, bicycles that cost $1,000 to $4,000 are from China..good stuff too. China machining isn't always good. Drums/rotors need to be check and...

Well heck you done so much why stop now? I would keep an eye on ebay--or here for a nice K 68 member or even 73-76 if it fits. Then when you can change it and sell your old K member The bushings should be changed any how, LOL

Well I have the one upper SPC arm already and it fits great and is super easy to adjust just where you like it. It also is still rock solid tight and only 6 months newer then my rebuilt stock pos upper arm. I say pos cause it got new rubber bushings-that still look great and a new ball...

One wheel turns easy left and right/ other side not easy

Nice. Its on the stock control arm side. Guess I be changing that side out and hope its the upper. Both lowers were changed over 10 years ago. I know stuff wears out. The inside tread of that side tire keeps wearing out. I gotta put some more $$$ on that side and change both upper and...

One wheel turns easy left and right/ other side not easy

Replacing all the tie rods, pitman arm and idler arm on my 79 Magnum. Darn thing would move around on bumpy roads. Haven't drove it yet but two tie rods seemed LOOSE so thinking I'm good now. But with the center link out, one side turns easy left and right and the other side I had to use both...

My power steering went out at under 2,000 rpm but then 20 mins later it was fine

Was on the freeway going 4,000 rpm's or more for 10 good miles. Was sunny and warm today, like 75 degrees. When I slowed down I had no power steering at under 2,000 rpm. Once I got where I was going I let it set for 20 mins. Still was out but then a few mins later all was good. Level is up there...
