    Are our Slants "Unsafe"?

It sounds like we have two different definitions of "safe" in this thread. We have: 1. Less damage to car = safe (older car argument) 2. Less damage to humans = safe (newer car argument) I used to be of the argument number 1 crowd, that is until about 4 months ago when we got rear-ended...

    Novas

Dusters and novas (late 60's, early 70's novas) share a very basic, overall shape. I think most non-hardcore car people are only familiar with novas because the GM stuff is like a bellybutton. Since non-hardcore car people don't have an eye for detail, and just see the overall generic shape...

How to make a chevrolet nova run?

Put a 440 in it! http://eugene.craigslist.org/cto/2366108372.html Wonder what type of work that took? And whether or not it's a hack job?

    One Nasty '68 Dart!!

There are some videos somewhere of him cruising that car up the street. Some one else around here i'm sure will chime in, as I think this was a pretty well known car. Unfortunately it had a small fire and he has since rebuilt it, and I no longer believe he cruises this one on the street. I think...

    Hi Def Tv's

I have what was (for it's day) a high end Panasonic 50" plasma that's about 5 years old now. It's starting to display some large yellow patches on either side of the screen when certain shades of white are part of the main picture. I mostly see this happening when using the PS3, but I'm starting...

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

Got it resolved!!! It was a broken wire at the starter. When putting it back together I accidentally pulled the wire out of the end that bolts to the starter. Put a new end on it and fired it last night. WOOHOO! have yet to drive it, but ran it through a couple of gears on the stands last night...

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

I'm actually using the newer type bushing that fits in the large end of the crank, where the snout for the torque converter would go. Unfortunately, I'm not even to this point yet, as the starter isn't doing anything. The starter isn't even engaging the flywheel at this point. I just need to...

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

My car is a 67. Yeah, when i get out there next, i'll check my connections all around and see what I can come up with.

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

It's a powermaster mini starter, and worked perfectly when i pulled the auto. Next time i can get out there, I'll check my connections at the starter and double check my battery connections.

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

Hmmmm........Speaking of the starter. I got underneath again to look around........the starter pinion seems awfully close to the flywheel. Should they sit like this? They seem to be almost on top of each other. Is this normal?

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

The caption underneath this pic says it can be grounded. Wonder what might be going on. http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/drivetrain/mopp_0107_727_torqueflite_transmission_conversion/photo_22.html

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

Hmmmm............If that's the case, anyone know where I'd find this thing? I guess i could attempt to follow the wire, but it's inside the loom and I don't really want to cut that apart.

4 speed conversion - what went wrong?

Hey All, Tried to start the car for the first time today after converting over to the 4-speed. I thought all I needed to do was ground the wire that went to the neutral safety switch on the old auto. Here's what's happening. 1. Without the neutral safety wire grounded, I turn the key and...

Purple Shaft vs XE Comp Cam

I don't have a lot to compare it to, but with the 904 behind it it really was strong from bottom to top. It comes on best over 2K though and will pull hard all the way up. I don't have a really good feel for the entire range because i've been fighting transmission woes, and have been finishing...

Purple Shaft vs XE Comp Cam

I'm running the XE275HL in my 360. .525 lift on both sides, but not a wild duration (231/237 @ .050). Streetable all day long, not an issue at all. I believe the HL series also takes advantage of the wider lobe area that the mopar smallblocks offer, allowing for better life on the street with...

    Clutch adjustment?

The bushings aren't new, but they don't appear to be very old or worn. of course, that probably doesn't mean that they aren't. The bushings in the zbar are still installed properly. I guess I'm going to have to get someone to push on the pedal while I watch from underneath. The really...

    Clutch adjustment?

Hey Everyone, Finishing up my 4-speed conversion, and got the clutch installed, trans in, shifter in and adjusted (shifts fantastically!), and am working on the clutch adjustment. I appear to be having a problem with the clutch adjustment, and am not sure what could be wrong. When I first...

Anyone have any Pinewood Derby tips/tricks?

When I was in scouts I did the pinewood derby twice. I don't know if this is legal anymore, but we cut the part of the car out of the block that was going to be for the front axles. I'm not sure now if we redrilled the axle holes or not, but then ran a very small bolt and nut through this block...

    Pedal to Z-bar?

Ok.....got the new bracket on the bellhousing, and now everything magically lines up exactly where it should. The only question I still have is that the zbar sits off of the bellhousing bracket by about 1/2". Is this correct, or even ok? I know it rides on the nylon bushing but was wondering if...

    Pedal to Z-bar?

WOOHOO! Getting somewhere now. I found a picture I had taken of my bellhousing that gave me the casting number. It's a 72-up bellhousing, which, according to Brewer's site means that I'm using the wrong ballstud bracket at the bellhousing. If I had the period correct bellhousing, my bracket...

    Pedal to Z-bar?

Ok, it get's interesting now...........I talked to Wayne at brewer's yesterday, and then went home last night and took a look at some things. The zbar tube should be 7" long, and mine is exactly 7". Also, for the bracket on the bellhousing, it's correct for the 10.5" bellhousing. So last...

    Pedal to Z-bar?

Actually, if I look really close at the bar on brewers, maybe my zbar is wrong. It looks like the top arm that should connect to the pedal is angled backwards to what is on brewers. Hard to tell though, because the brewer's pic needs to be from the side. It just looks like where it anles is...

    Pedal to Z-bar?

For the rod to line up properly, the zbar needs to be moved towards the bellhousing. The whole thing needs to move over. But, the zbar looks right, including the arm for the clutch adj. rod if you look really close at the pics on brewers...
