A guy I know who programs fire systems carries an older laptop around as it will connect to older stuff and will program where as the new stuff wont.

    MSD 7531 PROGRAMING TROUBLE, HELP!

Sadly this isn't the place for that level of discussion as 99% wont be using a datalogger. SpeedTalk might be a better option as it encompasses a broader range of readership.

    MSD 7531 PROGRAMING TROUBLE, HELP!

That's funny. Bruce figured out that at higher vaporization rates and higher compression ratio's the Inductive ignition couldn't cut it as the better mixture required a stronger spark that's why he advocated for CDI. We are talking High Horsepower to Cubic inch power ratios in street and racing...

Well I won’t say I’m never going to buy another set of Speedmaster heads

Maybe you can be the guy that in 10 year time people are still learning from.......I have threads saved from many many years ago from people no longer with us. See the bigger picture and don't let the haters get you down.

Well I won’t say I’m never going to buy another set of Speedmaster heads

I saw a pallet full of cast iron speedmaster heads at my machinists place getting "salvaged" for reselling if he could manage to fix them. Gave me one that was beyond repair to play with.

    Head Porting Book Review

Maybe the author could give you a better picture of the why's and how's. Paging @mpgmike Ill add this from page 119: "Any tricks you can employ to better vaporize the fuel, better homogenize the fuel with the air and and apply more of the cylinder pressure to more of the piston crown will make...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

A carb has to meter air and fuel across a broad range of airflows and loads. Thinking in WOT terms only causes you to miss the entirety of the point. There's a reason the manufactures chose to use a spread bore design. It solves issues a large square bore creates.

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Am I? Here's my original post: Reductionism at its finest. How about you use yours? Maybe just maybe that 360 doesn't use more air than that 650 already provides. Can you grasp the difference between a spread bore design and a square bore design? Both can be rated at 800 cfm but have totally...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

So the engine didn't make the most power everywhere with the Dominator? Why not........But you gave it more air didn't you? Um......its 292 cubes is it not? You think a 650 is too big for a nearly 300 cube engine? Didn't Mopar put Thermoquad's on 318's? Ford put thermoquads on 302's...

What creates the airflow through them?

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Why can it be too big? Deep Roots explains it well: Annular booster carburetor flow test By being more of a restriction the Same volume of air has to move faster around and through it. The engine pulls more fuel. Main air bleed, jetting, and pvcr’s need to be changed to accommodate that...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Only a 1% gain difference in performance from a lot less cfm.........Weren't they expecting a 2 tenths difference on the assumption the extra airflow would equate to more power? There's a clear difference in airflow yet not performance. Didn't the 650 have issues as well........Looks like it...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

No they don't. Both triple stage boosters and annular boosters increase signal because the are more restrictive. What is "correct" is to reference the booster signal required to the vacuum generated by the engine. Again stick a Dominator (1050) on a 318 and tell me all about atomization when you...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Maybe he can try a Dominator next and it will go faster will it not because you just gave it more air? You keep imagining. There's so many places to do it and **** it up.......Valve size, port size, manifold size, exhaust size, Ignition strength fuel type and carb size to name a few. And yet if...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

What does all that do exactly? Vacuum is generated all the way through the intake tract even at the intake valve. Last time I looked vacuum is what the piston generates as it travels down the bore pulling the air and fuel in does it not? The average Hot Rodder isn't Darin Morgan with a wet...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Only in this case I'm sure...... What does this have to do with the fact that even 318willrun and his mate can obviously tell the difference in sizing between the 2 and expect the bigger carb to make much more power. Surely the 750 holley clone flows more than an annular 600 edelbrock. There's...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

No that's yours and other peoples assumptions. I just point out the obvious disparity between peoples statements and the real world. A milder engine can tolerate a bigger carb.........Why is that? You think that Big Block is healthy....... You're the only one saying that.
  22. H

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Smart people at the top of motorsports don't guess they test and test and test. That's exactly what you should do. Vacuum aids vaporization and if an engine needs more vacuum to convert more of the fuel to a gas that's a burnable state then guess what happens? Look at the 400 cube ford that...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

And yet 318willrun clearly believed otherwise: Funny that isn't it. The general misconception is a bigger carb will always make more power.
  24. H

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

It shouldn't which means you need to figure out what's wrong with it. My guess would be to check the float levels first.
  25. H

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Not the case at all. On a 800HP plus race engine some one very knowledgeable had to decrease the overall induction (carbs) size to gain back what they lost when they made changes to improve airflow.........because the new combo diminished the vaporization rate (gas conversion) he needed to get...

750 Brawler vs 650 AVS 2 at the track, right OOTB !

Are you surprised? Irrespective that's a large difference in available airflow. Best MPH isn't it always quoted as the power the engine is making so..... Did you factor in booster restriction in your calcs? If you have ever pulled down a Carter/Eddie carb and looked at the booster and...

Never. Nor do I know what size they should actually be to work correctly............Have you measured any? NO ****.....Maybe that's part of your problem....... You mean that Prostock engine that ran quicker after they fixed the idle/trasnfer circuit.........Nah that would never be applicable...
