I used the AMD qtrs and had the same issue. The angle was off a little too but not enough to be a problem with the fill tube at the floor or tank. It was decided to body work the cap to match the body. It would have been alot more work to get the qtr to match the cap. It wasn't alot but enough...

Yeah it is the base/clear and matched the card fine, so I'm totally happy with it. I did hear like you mentioned that the difference is from being a base/clear product and the spray pattern. I was mainly posting to show the differences in the shades and what I encountered.

Top stripe is applied first and there is about a 1/2" gap between the stripes.

There is a top and bottom stripe. I'll get some measurements tomorrow evening sometime and see what one they put on first and the spacing. Here is another picture of the fuel opening I just found for reference for the stripes

Your numbers at the door/Qtr gap are similar to what I have. Both the door and Qtr top stripe are 1 1/16" and the bottom stripe is 1 3/16". The gap between the two stripes is a heavy 3/8". What is the space you have between the stripes at the wheel opening? Maybe that's the difference? I'm...

How wide are the stripes above the rear wheel opening on the stripes your installing? Can you measure them, I wonder if they are wider causing the stripe to lay down on the lip of the opening? The original ones are 2-1/16" wide with a 5/8" space between the top and bottom.

I took some measurements of the stripes on both sides of the car at the rear wheel openings and the r/s was higher by 1/16". But other than that, this is what I have going on here. Hopefully this can shed some light on the stripes riding up on the wheel lip? I just made a diagram to make it...
