Hello from SW WI, my name is Galen Govier and I just signed up to this site.

Wow, it's been a while since I have been a regular on here. Those are some pretty sporty comments, kind of reminded me why I stopped participating in LS1GTO. Not that I am Mr. Rogers but I try not to post something that I wouldn't say to someone in person. Peace.

Hello from SW WI, my name is Galen Govier and I just signed up to this site.

Awesome! I had your little white book when I built my Duster 360 many years ago, was super helpful to have with me at swap meets or before buying something on evil bay!

Steve Magnante has been MIA for awhile....here is why:

I think he has encephalitis, scary stuff, I read up on it this morning and two of the common causes are bites from mosquitoes and ticks, something commonly run across in a field or junkyard. I wish him well and have been an avid watcher of his YouTube channel.

    1973 Plymouth Duster 360

Car has been inactive for a couple of years. We have done quite a bit to make her a driver again. Fixed the heater and climate control stuff and then moved on to fixing leaks and a noisy lifter. It all started when we loaned it out for a movie shoot and it started leaving puddles on the floor.

Flowtech headers in a Early A Body

If the rack is going in the same location as the centerlink I would say you will have problems. I have the old PAW specials on my Duster, probably similar to the Flotec stuff and the clearance for tie rods, pittman and idler is really tight. Can't see the rack taking up less area. If it's...

Rear End Swap 7-1/4" to 8-1/4"

Best places to look are craigslist, ebay, contact a local salvage yard that specializes in old mopars. I have used Texas Acres to locate parts in the past if you don't mind paying freight. I have also scored parts through making connections at swap meats, auto auctions, flea markets, where...

    Almost no oil pressure help

I had that happen on a rebuild one time, the new lifters were not soaked in oil before install and the engine was fired up without priming sytem. The engine clacked allot on start up before settling down, oil light on, did this several times on start up and then eventually stopped doing it...

    Rear band questions

You didn't state whether it's a slant or small block case. Pretty sure you can't swap bands unless the case came with the wider one. I remember trying to donate some parts from my slant 6 trans to my small block trans and I think the low reverse band was narrower on the slant but may have...

Engine reseal suggestions (possibly cam too)

Yep, replace the head gasket while it's out, even if you don't spring for the head milling a new gasket is good peace of mind. Just remember if you go with an .040 composition gasket it will lower compression from the stock .020 steel shim gasket. Also make sure your breather and pcv/hose are...

    Stalls with electrical loads

Edit: My cam specs were improperly listed, actual is 270/280 .420 I/.443 E 204/214 lift @.050. This has been my cam of all seasons choice for everything from 305,350 and 383 Chebbies and the same grind spec for my 360 Duster. Tons of torque, good power, fair economy and 100,000 mile plus...

    Glowing Coil Terminal

Even back in 68 that car may have had provisions for electric choke, my 73 Duster does. If it doesn't you need to dedicate a wire for it that is only hot when the ignition is in run position. it's a pain in the *** but you gotta do it. Trust me it is more work worrying about it than just...

    Stalls with electrical loads

I was wondering about that on the ballast, I have three of them, all test around 1.4-1.6 ohms cold. One of them is actually marked "1.2" on one of the terminals. Could swear my 74' Chiltons manual listed it as 1.5 ohms. Are there different values for different years, I would think the .5 ohm...

Check out how much transfer slot is exposed, it worked for me anyway on my small block.

    Stalls with electrical loads

Good advice. FYI, I drove the car to work this morning with lights on, never took it out of drive. Running super smooth, no hiccups. I also noticed very little drop in idle speed when put into gear(running ported vacuum now of course) and the big surprise was how much cleaner it smells at...

    Stalls with electrical loads

OK, long day yesterday with this thing, first off the fuel pump started leaking so had to replace that before doing anything else. Drove it around in hopes that may have contributed but of course no. So I removed the carb and here is what the T-Slot looked like: After playing with the...

    Stalls with electrical loads

I will try bypassing ballast for test only and see what happens. I may have to hook up the tachometer I bought for it in 1987 to see what it actually idles at in gear:) Hate that tacked on look but 73's don't have rally gauge clusters. I am going to check ballast resistance when hot too...

    Stalls with electrical loads

If not stated voltages(other than battery in picture) were taken with car running, accessories on with car in gear. I don't know what the voltage at + terminal on coil should read while running but shows around 6 in neutral with no accessories on. Do you know what the spec is for that voltage...

    Stalls with electrical loads

Spent some time troubleshooting this weekend: Voltage Drop at firewall with accessories on and running ground checked out: Same at ground on radiator support: Voltage drop at run terminal: Voltage at coil: Plenty of juice at idle in neutral: Not shown but dropped below 12 volts in...

    Stalls with electrical loads

I don't have timing tape on the balancer but I did check timing with light after hooking up vacuum. Can is working. Don't know how much advance but it moves it 15-20. Yes everything else is correct.
