How much improvement will I see?

I would go with a convertor that stalls around 4500. That combination ultimately should be able to threaten the 11’s. I had a stock short block 360 in my current car when I got it. Initially untouched eddy heads( so yours should be better) 750, airgap( I would ditch your single plane) 4.30...

    Mopar R1 block

Don’t bother, the 2 blot caps are fine. I made over an honest 700 horse with an X block and W5 heads with zero issues. 4 bolt caps are way overrated.

    Mopar R1 block

Have never heard of an X block going further out than 4.125, and that is super pushing it. I had one at 4.100. Some of them won’t go anywhere near that even, without getting thin.

Toughing it out on my perch

Another shot…I take terrible pictures. That chair right between the two trees with the blue towel on it is the wife’s. She gets up every morning at 5 to play the towel game, then comes back to bed. I don’t want to ruin her fun, but she could get up way later..lol I know the guy who sets up the...

Haha. Nope, they outlawed smoking on the beach. Not sure what if anything would happen if you did. Back then I was still smoking and did so on this beach too. We been coming here for pretty much the month of January since 2012 I think, maybe 2013, have to ask the wife. My ex and I went to Turks...

    Weight guesstimate

My old motor that went 140 mph at 3220( on super stock springs) made 708 on the dyno. I think the numbers lined up nearly perfectly.

    Weight guesstimate

Indy makes aluminum blocks too. If that were the case, the truck could be heavier as the R3’s weigh lots more than a 340 block. But if the BBM was iron, yes, probably 75-100 pounds lighter. If that W5 puts down a true 750, that will be the stroutest W5 I have seen. That would put your current...

Solid Roller camshaft selection those of you running a 408 race application - lobe seperation

I am not a cam expert. Just installed them the way somebody who is, said to. From what i understand, retarding the cam tends to perhaps help on the big end, but negatively affects the starting line. I do know going to a wider LSA had a similar effect( killed bottom, was supposed to help the top)...

Solid Roller camshaft selection those of you running a 408 race application - lobe seperation

I have bought several cams from Dwayne for 4 inch motors. Always installed per the way they were designed. Most anything designed to run 4 advanced( 108 at 104, 106 at 102, 112 at 108, etc) will be a dog out of the gate stood straight up. I am talking something that’s ran at the track.

Solid Roller camshaft selection those of you running a 408 race application - lobe seperation

I have never run any cam that called for being installed 4 degrees advanced per the cam card, straight up.

Solid Roller camshaft selection those of you running a 408 race application - lobe seperation

I switched from a 727 to a 904 back when I had a stock stroke 360 in the car and didn’t see a thing, was hoping to but didn’t. I don’t know about 2 or 3 tenths. I have heard a tenth or 1.5 tenths is common. Regards the OP’s car, the other thing is, are the heads really as good as people think...

    Machine shop recommendation Middle Tn?

Agree regards Hensley. Quality folks Brian, who posted upthread is also a quality guy. He likely can source everything you would need, so you only have to have him ship stuff one way back to you. If he found you a workable block, that’s a big part of the shipping equation.

Solid Roller camshaft selection those of you running a 408 race application - lobe seperation

That’s the cam Rod Bloomer has run a number of times on the dyno and on test hits at the track. It makes good power on very healthy strokers.

Solid Roller camshaft selection those of you running a 408 race application - lobe seperation

I think his current cam has a good bit too much lift, but could use more duration. I suspect those heads aren’t doing anything above 600 lift. Aren’t they as delivered from TF? Also wonder about the 14 degree split.

New Kevko Pan with Crank Scraper

It’s hard if not impossible to get a pan with an integral scraper, because as I learned there is an art to setting the clearance just so..as to make it beneficial. I too run the kevco 6 quart pan, and as mentioned, it doesn’t require hacking your A body K frame

New Kevko Pan with Crank Scraper

I had my engine guy( on his suggestion) fab a scraper for use with my Kevco pan. He told me it’s probably worth 3-5 horsepower. Charged me a little over a hundred bucks to make it. Thought it was a good investment.
