Check out eBay I've seen and bought fresh carbs for /6 a lot more reasonable than that. Try different key words,/6 centric, Holley centric, Carter, BBS,1 barrel, , and more to try
Good winter bench racing topic. One I've actually wondered about in the past.
On the 0.600" is the 1980s 0.480" the heads, the guide length, spring bind, etc on the same set of heads is still what it was then. So there's that too.
We're keeping the door (valves in the case of an engine) the same for arguing sake, only thing changes is amount door is open (or valves). We're not adding a1.78 vs a 2.02 intake into the equation at this point.
Now cam numbers make my head spin, so nothing but confuse me, especially when you dig deeper like overlap, dynamic CR, etc. lift and duration of and by themselves aren't as confusing... I often compare a stock 360-2 cam and a comp 252. Duration overlap etc are identical. And it ain't by much...
And you know, my first truck was a ramcharger. My next 2 were short beds back when I was about 1/2 of my current age. (I'm 57) And I was teased, made fun of back then for those short beds. Mostly by an older brother. And the closest thing I've had since we're a few Dakota's with the same length...
It was the other pix that you sent me where I realized that it had the water heat. There was a weird looking extra "protrusion" I guess you could call it, that for lack of a better term, and I wondered what it was, it took me a minute of just staring at it, to figure that out
And with this being...
The plan is for a magnum long block but LA everything else
And like many of my posts will say again that I post hopefully giving others something to think about, knowing that I can't be the only person here wondering about some of the things I am, hopefully it stirs up some thoughts for others...
Sorry a lil late to the party. Story of my life day late, dollar short. I'm building a 360 mag motor for a 3/4 ton truck, and it will be carbureted.
I've been bitten by EQ in the past so I ain't interested in another set of their heads. I had a set of stock heads I took to a machine shop years...
I have had my 15 ton press longer than HF has been around me. Doesn't have to be brand new to work. I walk in the local HF store once-twice a year and walk out as empty handed as I walked in ..
And about burning bushings I set them out on the gravel drive, lay the bottle torch next to the...
Ugh. Horror freight.just say no.
I got my press off of CL many years ago.
As far as using a press for control arm bushings I've done alot of control arm bushings and can't say that I have ever used my press to do those. Not once. I tried once and the table that you set your pressed part on...
Ok
I'm wanting to spec out a cam for this build.
Most of you have seen my comments on what I want this engine for. I want somewhere around an actual 9-1/2:1, I'd bet that actual as built won't meet advertised CR, as the older engines than the magnum series. were, almost always less than...
You guys said something about "just" an R/T cam this is the one, they had that and the one I'm talking about is the "R/T+10". I don't remember or have the specs of the regular R/T cam here. But the "+10" was supposed to mean that much more HP over the R/T one. Don't know that I'd go thru a cam...
One thing I noticed about many (all? Not sure)
Of the hong kong phooey intakes available new currently is that looking down thru the carb mount flange, they all look like a washboard on the the intake floor. That can't be good. Lots of places for fuel to puddle.
the last one I did (46 RE) I had to take a flapper wheel and carbide burr bit and clean up some of the gnarly casting.... I cut myself taking it out, hand slid along the housing as I slid it on the trans jack/ had a huge burr right along center down the whole front case. I cleaned up a few...
Being that I want to run a carburetor which is why I'm looking for something besides a kegger in the first place, which means running a mechanical fuel pump, which means that having to use the LA front of the engine, I'm hoping I can run the 80s brackets and compressor.
How about running an...
