Liberty does the conversion. They also machine the cover for seals. You can’t run the gearbox without seals on the shift shafts. They will leak.
Have you ever seen a torque rating for the 833? I’ve looked and I have never seen one. It would be interesting to know how Chrysler rated the 833....
Exactly.
So you mean 300 itself is anemic? It depends. For some engines it may be a very good number. For a 500 inch engine even in a mild state of tune,...
Here you go. Read page 3 very close. https://www.jericoperformance.com/break_in.pdfThere is another set of instructions I can’t find for clutch...
I forgot to mention the Jerico box. It’s based on the Top Loader. They used to come with a warning that said the clutch will break his...
I explain it in post 430. Read it. It’s real world examples. Torque capacity ratings are for marketing.
I already did somewhere, but I’ll explain it again. It’s simple really. You can take any transmission and apply this to it, but because 300 foot...
Got. You don’t know why it’s right or wrong. You don’t have an answer.I’ll say it again so anyone who comes along can learn for themselves....
Since your don’t like my answer, why not explain why “torque” is a proper measure of transmission durability.I’d love to hear it. Don’t be shy.
Torque is a poor way of rating a gear box or clutch. I can take a junk clutch and break an 833 with 350 hp and 300 tq.It’s marketing nonsense.
THIS^^^^. My bad. I though he said it was a trunion box and I didn’t see that is was a 71 box.
2.66 first gear.
Take a picture of the input shaft please.
Use locktite and NOT those star washers. Those things fail and then the bolts are loose.
Just the one snap ring in the input. Can you take another picture of the 3-4 slider?
Things like that are usually part of the casting process and then they are used for machining targets. Cut them of if you want.
You can get a steel billet FW from 440 source. I wouldn’t bother with anything else, unless you wanted an aluminum FW and I don’t suggest that.
That is the 71 (I think it was 71, could have been 70) and later interlocking side cover. It’s basically what a Muncie transmission and several...
If your scatter shield will take the big flywheel that’s what you want. If you are putting it on the hose that would tell me you are going to race...
Buy the correct shift rods and they will fit right in there.
You may have to cut the lever stops off to get it in the hole. I always take them off. If you have a ball and detent cover, or even the...
I meant the length of the handle (5 feet or 5 inches or even if it’s on the column) makes no difference in how fast anyone can shift or how easy...
That’s what I mean. The handle can be 5 feet or 5 inches long. It won’t make you a better or worse shifter. And those short throw, short sick...
The length of the shifter handle has no effect on how fast you can shift. In fact, a short throw shifter is harder to shift.
Make the 1-2 shift rod SLIGHTLY longer and see if it gets better. Doesn’t matter if you set the linkage up using the alignment pin. Sometimes one...
