Has anyone reversed the twin hood scoops for a cowl induction effect?

Butch Leal was one of the 7 that received a Thunderbolt when he worked for Mickey Thompson. Butch sent me this picture when he asked for a similar set up on his street Duster.

Has anyone reversed the twin hood scoops for a cowl induction effect?

I follow the one of the biggest rules in plumbing. ****, or rainwater in this case, runs downhill. The duct / air opening is considerably lower than the air cleaner intake. Drill a 3/8" or 1/2'' od drain hole at the base of the duct to the air cleaner and let any intrusive H2O out.

Has anyone reversed the twin hood scoops for a cowl induction effect?

better picture of duct on left side of valance. All aftermarket stuff readily available from Amazon (Spectre air cleaner) and Summit (ducting)

Has anyone reversed the twin hood scoops for a cowl induction effect?

Added this fresh air set-up to Butch Leals street Duster. Air enters thru ducts in the extreme right / left of the valance opening. Strictly for looks, I would do something different on the duct connects if ever I made another sert-up. It usually takes me a try ot two to get it the way I like it.

    Turning back the clock

Thanks to all for the kind words. Brother John turned me onto this site, he actually ghosted as me before I figured out how to maneuver a computer. Because of his failing health over the last few years, his passing was not a complete surprise. I certainly would have loved to have him hanging...

    Turning back the clock

With great sadness, I announce the passing of my older brother, my partner on this Butch Leal / California Flash restoration and my Mopar mentor, John Laube. We will miss his humor and wit, I will miss walking in his footsteps. God speed Brother John.

    Turning back the clock

Butch and the race car have impacted my Mopar hot rod life for the last 50 years. It is fun to be the fly on the wall seeing their reactions and hearing the stories when fans and fellow racers meet Butch. Never a dull moment....unless Butch takes a smoke break.

    12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

For you track guys I would think you would show up with several splined crossbars. For us coffee getters rolling into Bob Evens.... we use only one.

    12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

With the appropriate sized bushings (delrim / poly) I would think it would be fairly easy to add whatever size splined bar you wanted to the HDK K-frame sway bar mounts. The tricky part would be the the outer arms clearing your extra wide tires....but do-able. If the legs went under the tie rods...

if you wanted to try a bigger hollow (chromoly) bar I could get my fab guy to bend one up and tigg tubing adapters for heims on the ends. That heim end set up is what has been on mine for 15 years. Just let me know the od and wall thickness. pictured is 1" solid bar with tubing adapters / heim...

    Another 68 Dodge Dart....

I am still in disbelief with the dyno numbers , when I told Butch (Leal) how stout it is he thought I was talking about a supercharged Gen III, not a Stage II street Hemi. What a beast!!! Congrats Mark.

    12:05 Garage- ’70 Duster build

My machinist has had both 1-1/2" and 2" studs on his back burner for quite....time to turn up the heat. I have the 1-1/2 " sealed ball joint assemblies in my car and especially after cutting one apart, (IMHO) they are nowhere near the quality of the QA1 stud / housing assembly.

A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

Glad I have it now, but if the Duster had not been a factory A/C car, A/C would not of been added when built. With the original A/C interior components, all it took to convert to R-134 was an OEM / Year One replacement condenser, a compact Sanden compressor, new drier and lines. Same with the...

    "Next Victim"

next up is adding the mock up driveline, then trial fit (hang) the body. By hanging the body, I mean we will drop it from overhead onto the frame / chassis table with the yellow crane you see the base of in some pictures above.

A-Bodies...Big Motors / New Hemi Duster - FINAL ASSEMBLY

driving home from the Nats in the Duster back in 2015 (?) I almost fell asleep at the wheel. Very little sleep for the 4-day weekend, windows up / cold A/C and no noise, the quite almost lulled me into a nap while halfway home.
