    1973 Scamp AC refresh

AC help needed!!…. The instructions with my AC universal hose and fittings kit are pretty basic - am wondering if anybody can answer these questions - i’m replacing the lines and fittings in my 1973 Scamp - as have added a new compressor. Questions: 1) do I need to keep or replace the...

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

I think throwing darts around that wanting EFI doesn’t make you a car guy is a bit harsh - that’s your opinion. From my side, I’m set on EFI for this project but for future builds that will not necessarily be the case. I drive this car on a 40 mile round trip to work, every day, including cold...

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

I’ve not got the factory EFI, would consider it an option. Not far off putting my shopping list together, where this group, as always, has helped enormously - will share in next few days.

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

Most of my daily drive is free flowing, interstate or around 45/50 mph. Does that help?

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

This group has got the carb ticking through my mind, but the EFI for longevity and long miles still seems more stuck. I’ve heard the same on the heads - too much choice ! Am going to look up Charlie Servedio shortly - thank you for the tip!

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

This is great - and echos some of the direction I’ve seen online re the cam - think I with you there. Am using the majority of parts I have but only have the block, crank and piston rods, spider etc.

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

408 would definitely be something I’d love but how would it stack up for daily efficiency?

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

I’m still learning the joys of mechanics but I’m far from competent, beyond internet research and limited knowledge. I’m set on EFI, as the car really is a daily driver, I commute to work in her every day and just like the benefits of EFI, especially one that is self learning and managing.

The 727 will be replaced by a five speed Tremec (money dependent, most likely at the same time).

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

Yes - am starting with a bare block. Planning on keeping the crank shaft and connecting rods but rest is up for modification.

360 Magnum Daily Driver (but fun too!!!)

Apologies - probably all been shared before, but….. This topic has no doubt likely been covered many times before but am welcome of some ideas. I’ve a 360 Magnum engine out of a 2001 Dakota, it’s currently in the machine shop being prepared for me to start a rebuild. Am a novice builder and...

Hotchkis or QA1 all inclusive kits - which one?

Wheels and tires are on the list. Next project is a 360 block I picked up off Facebook marketplace, going to rebuild and boost that, coupled to a Tremec 5-speed but need to find some money first !

Hotchkis or QA1 all inclusive kits - which one?

Sorry - it’s night and day, the difference is HUGE. I was rolling around allover the place - some simple mechanics, with modern materials, and finish, has transformed the way she drives. Cars dynamically improved over the years, I’ve not wanted to lose the ‘stock look and posture’ but some...

Hotchkis or QA1 all inclusive kits - which one?

Hey all, wanted to chime in here as I started this post and wanted to provide an update. Firstly, HUGE shouts out to @BergmanAutoCraft and @72bluNblu - your advice and many of the parts you recommended has been super helpful in my build. My 1973 Scamp is now fully finished - I mainly went with...

Paint shop in North Carolina - Raleigh / Durham area

Shout out to any members in the Raleigh/Durham North Carolina area. Am looking for a paint and body shop to restore my hood and respray. Not expecting anything scary under the existing paint when it’s removed but looking for the job to be done properly but hopefully not breaking the bank. If...

Unable to shift into reverse gear at full lock

Hey All, am looking for help (as always ). I had previously dropped my steering column to remove my instrument cluster in my 1973 Plymouth Scamp. I got the cluster back in and lifted the column back into place but am wondering if i have messed something up beneath the cluster on the reinstall...

    1972 duster power brake booster

Help needed - ignition problems after instrument cluster work

I think so - as my previous reply - maybe something got loose on the final all tightened back together part. The noise through the radio is weird too. But going to shuffle around a little tomorrow or when no work permits.

Help needed - ignition problems after instrument cluster work

Yep - I did and when I wired up and retested before tightening everything in fully place it was working. And it worked again once after everything was tightened into place and then the current scenario. But maybe something got shifted or loose again in that final tightening fit - it’s just that...

Help needed - ignition problems after instrument cluster work

Hey All - I took my instrument cluster out this weekend to replace the step down transformer, in the hope of getting the fuel, voltmeter and engine temp gauges firing again. I replaced the old transformer with a solid state one (but didn’t replace the little technical paper underneath it). When...

Hotchkis or QA1 all inclusive kits - which one?

I’ll be under the car, all being well, this week and will come back to you and share a snap. There is power steering and powered brakes - looks like stock but when I get under car properly with mechanic will confirm. Wheel wise - want to keep the spirit of mopar, so if pushed would probably keep...

Hotchkis or QA1 all inclusive kits - which one?

I think we’re on the same page re driving enjoyment - everything you’ve included is really useful - thank you. I do have power steering and as expected it’s not very tight or engaging, so will be checking that out with Bergman too, thankfully have some ‘slightly’ wider tires and rims than stock...

Warning - got a little trigger happy with the typing… @junkyardhero - I’d like to be on the same page as you - I like the sound of 1/2 cost for the same results - if you share your perfect list would love to hear it. Everything to my limited knowledge, from visual checks under the car and...
